Hi there, incognito for obvious reasons.
I’ve never learnt to cook. 🫠
I have such little interest in food, or eating - that nothing has ever stayed with me.
I now have a 1 year old who’s learning to eat and I don’t know what to cook him. I’ve done pasta, scrambled eggs, mashed potato etc - but really that’s as far as my knowledge or imagination kind of goes.
He gets plenty of fresh fruit and I am spending a fortune on baby food jars and pouches in Tescos.
Can anyone please help me, recommend some very very basic and easy things to make him to eat?
Stuff I can just whip up and not fail at. 🙈
Thank you 😩

Omelettes with different veg in - like grated carrot, spinach and cheese.
Pasta and pesto with pulled chicken, and can cut up spinach really small and hide it in it.
Spaghetti bolognese, make a big batch and freeze so you can just heat up when need. My boy LOVED this when he was 1 and I couldn’t get him to eat anything.
Fish fingers
Low sugar baked beans and mash but hide mashed carrot and brocolli in it too
Lentil bolognese is also a good option if you can find a recipe online

Recommend the 'what mummy makes' cookbook. Really helping my imagination with cooking

We just love a picky plate. A few carrot sticks (lightly boiled so they can bite them easily), a boiled egg, sliced tomato and cucumber, some toast with Philadelphia on, some slices of ham, breadsticks, chopped apple etc. my kids have always just loved this because it gives them so much to try.
They’ve always loved baby porridge too for breakfast. And we make banana pancakes (mash a banana up in a bowl, whisk an egg into the banana and cook like you would a pancake) which they’ve also all loved.
I do have lots of baby weaning recipes too for veggie patties or baby friendly curries but for the most part you don’t need to make life difficult for yourself xx

There's a baby led weaning page on here with tonnes of ideas on it and Instagram has tonnes of easy recipes too 😊

Quiche is super easy. Get puff pastry and a cupcake tin. Fill with egg (like youd use for scrambled or omelette) and fill with whatever you like can use frozen veg for ease too.

I have a hard time with this too and hate cooking 😩
