I weaned at 19m . I started with cold turkey no feeds during the day. To help with that I tried to keep him busy/distracted. At that time he still tried to nurse throughout the night. So I cut it to only 1 feed to go to bed and 1 feed in the middle of the night. After a week of that I completely cut night feeds. There was lots of crying, and it was a few sleepless nights but it was worth it.
Long term BFer here! I planned to stop BF after my daughter’s 2nd birthday but that passed and I have been putting it off! I also don’t feel ready 😭 but at the same time I want to do it soon. I have been seeing people put apple cider vinegar on their nips lol and then their toddler just stopped wanting it. So I think I’m gonna try that but just don’t know when 🤣
We weaned around 19 months and I told him for maybe a week or so that boo-boo is going away. It’s empty. You’re a big boy now and don’t need it. Right before feedings. And one day I didn’t offer just to see how he’d react and he didn’t even care. For our son, he only cared that I was there to give him comfort not necessarily the milk.
@alyssa laughing because my daughter LOVES pickles and anything sour/fermented so I think the vinegar nipples would get her wanting more of the boob! lol
When I weaned my first born I started timing the feedings and gave 5 min each side. Then I did that a few days and then dropped to 4 min each side. Then 3/3, 2/2, etc until we stopped. It seemed to help the transition for both of us. I also changed the bedtime routine to change the association she had with bf. I stopped nursing her in her room for instance and we did bedtime routine in a different room before taking her to her bed
