Am I overreacting?

Looking for an opinion! Not Mommy or baby related... Just don't have any friends to ask or vent to. So my boyfriend, myself and our newborn live together and my 9 year old is with her dad this week. We've been very strapped for cash lately and kind of have this schedule where we hardly eat during the week that my oldest isn't with us and eat just enough during the week she is with us. My week with my oldest starts on Monday. Today is Saturday. I'm just starving so I decided to eat whatever I can find in the kitchen. I found a hamburger helper and even though we don't have any meat, I figured I'd just cook the pasta and the cheese that comes with it. It really rubbed my boyfriend the wrong way that I was about to cook this without the meat. I let him know how starving I was. He accepted it but didn't like it. Not that I'm cooking it but the fact that I was going to cook it without meat.. I ended up not cooking it because we figured we'd go get groceries today instead of tomorrow. As I'm prepping the baby for the cold and on our way out, he's giving me attitude. I decided not to go to the grocery store. I didn't want to deal with his attitude or his silent treatment. He drove off with the baby and the key. I'm sitting out here waiting for them to get back. Did I overreact by not going to the grocery store? I don't even know what to say when they get back.

First off all I’m sorry you’re going thru all this, I’m sure the postpartum hormones aren’t helping. You’re justified in feeling the way you do, I wouldn’t want to be around someone giving me attitude when I’m hungry. Secondly, girl you need to start eating.. there’s so many food pantries and local churches that give away food like full on bags of food that’ll have you over eating during the week. You can also apply for WIC and they give you formula and some food if you’re breast feeding.

Sorry about your situation. Have you heard of the app 'too good to go'? Some grocery stores and restaurants are part of it and give you food for cheap. You just pay through the app and pick it up at your local market. unfortunately you can't choose your products but you get very good deals and sometimes a ton of food. You should definitely try it out!

I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope you can find a way to eat. It’s nearly impossible for me to control my reactions if I’m hungry. I don’t think you overreacted at all. It’s also not fair that he left you outside waiting for them.
