Weaning struggle

My girl has always been interested in our food and opened her mouth for it when we put it near her. Five month old i introduced baby porridge each morning and she loved it. She turned six months on Monday and we’ve since been in introducing blended plus whole vegetables for her to hold. She refuse to eat it, especially when it’s on a spoon and now she refuses porridge which she has loved for a full month. As soon as I put her in her highchair and she sees a spoon, she’ll blow raspberries/spit. I gave her some toast today and she enjoyed the independence of holding it and did put it in her mouth/ate some although my anxiety was sky high with her having this . I also mixed some rusk and formula together and again as soon as she saw the spoon she started spitting. I know food is new to her and she’s just learning, but I’m confused as to why she now doesn’t like anything from the spoon, including her porridge that she loved.

"Food is fun for under 1s" someone told me this and it's so true. My little one was like that at the start but she's slowly getting there! She prefers finger food so when I give her strawberries or watermelon slices x

@Caitlin yeah I try not to let it bother me too much as long as she’s drinking milk but I just felt like I’d done something wrong with her not liking the spoon at all now x

Yeah I felt the same but just keep trying don't force it though. Milk is still so important and is there main source of food x

@Caitlin thank you x

We first gave Greek yoghurt and some banana, which she loved. Gave her some veg which she hated and now isn’t keen on the yoghurt or banana either. Loved sitting in the high chair first, now isn’t particularly happy there. I’m just trying to keep the vibes light, walk around the kitchen instead of staring her down, giving her a bit on my finger as she likes licking my fingers anyway. It’s disappointing but they’ll get there!

@Shereen yeah it sounds exactly the same, maybe it’s abit overwhelming for them. X

Must be, like you I expected her to love it as she was always staring at our food. She’s really liking water though!

@Shereen aw is she! That’s great, my girl pulls her face at water but still goes for more, think it’s the coldness she’s not a fan of 😆

Haha, yes probably. I keep it quite lukewarm and she’s happy with that.

@Shereen I’ll give it a go. Thank you x
