Potentially missing my best friends wedding...
V random post but needed to ask for advice anonymously! I'm 3months pregnant with my 2nd, and so excited. However, my due date is 4 days before my best friends wedding, who I am bridesmaid for. This means there's lots of chat about dresses and I'm in a bridesmaid group chat where there are constant messages organising the hen, which so far I've played v little part in as likely won't go. Her hen do is the week before the wedding. Annoyingly, neither of these things are in the city we live in - both are a 3 hr drive away. Obviously this means I need to commit, book, and pay quite a bit of money as they will not be cheap! I have v little desire to go on the hen do, especially as it's a whole weekend. Currently thinking will probably attend the wedding for the day, and just drive up with my husband in the morning, and back in the evening. However, the proximity of hen, wedding and due date make planning very very difficult. I haven't yet told her, or the bridesmaids, and am planning to see her this week. I feel face to face is the best way to break this news, rather than over text but I'm really dreading it. Any advice? X

I missed my best friends hen because I couldn’t leave my Lo. We did a little spa morning instead to celebrate so maybe you could do something similar earlier? I’m sure she’ll understand though as you couldn’t really travel that far so close to your due date x

The only advice I can say is be honest! If she’s your best friend she’ll be happy for you about baby number two (congrats!). Set expectations so she’s clear and if nothing is set in stone yet she maybe even do things to help accommodate you going. I have a friend of a friend who was a bridesmaid and ended up giving birth on the day of her best friends wedding so missed the whole thing, life happens, and there are still things you can do to be a part of and make the day special for her. All I’ll say is, the sooner you tell her and the other bridesmaid the better ☺️
