Spoon feeding

Is anyone spoon feeding yet? My baby has been on cereal since 2 months and he takes it well. I’m gonna try to spoon train him just in case we get the ok for purées next month.

Cereal isn't recommended anymore. It holds no nutritional value and is a tummy filler.

Also... no foods should be given before 4 months.

Starting giving my baby a few spoon 🥄 of puree. She will be 16 weeks this coming week. We already had the green light to start her on baby food at 4 months. A few days early isn't going to break anything.

But with that being said, every baby is different. If your baby is showing cues, such as supported sitting, interested in food. You could try a spoon 🥄 or two. I would do apples or something easy to avoid constipation.

@Elizabeth it was recommended by his doctor because of reflux and yes it helped keep him full because he was drinking a lot for his age and was still super hungry

We always think cereal helps baby get chunky lol but is just a tummy filler and helps with reflux

cereal at 2months? poor babies stomach can’t handle that…. have you talked to your pediatrician? if they gave you the green light you need a different pediatrician….

@Kadence 🤣

@Kadence every baby is different.. i know what’s best for my child. You didn’t comment to answer my question so you should just keep it moving love 💕

If he has reflux that bad, then he may need medication. My daughter went on medication and it made such a difference. Keeping him full because of the cereal isn't good. He's not getting nutrition from that. Definitely seek another pediatrician. They shouldn't be recommending cereal at that age or at all really

sad to see parents forcing their child to eat solids 😔

@Kadence thank you for posting this! It's such an outdated practice

Baby cereal is often given to babies with reflux issues to avoid medication. Medication has more side effects than baby cereal. Their is even formula with baby cereal already in it, such as Enfamil AR. Some people need to educate themselves.

@Maya formula is so different from just straight cereal ☠️ there's science behind that specific formula so babies don't choke and whatnot.

I understand everyone goes of off research and “studies” but that’s doesn’t necessarily mean for every child. People are out here feeding their baby chicken wings and fries at this age and I’ll be damned if I have to explain anything to anyone about MY baby when just I asked a simple question. If I wanted advice I would ask for it. If my baby likes to eat then he likes to eat tf.

@Elizabeth, you literally can't even give babies straight cereal as it's powder. You do realize that?

Wild how it's already been shared this was the docs advice to mom... And then a customer service rep and a SAHM keep insisting they and google know what's best 😵‍💫

So you don't believe in science and research? 🤣 like the experts put this information out here for a reason. The health and safety of your baby should be a priority

@Elizabeth, I'm so curious as to where you got your doctorate degree?

Ima be honest I don’t give a damn what y’all talking about cause obviously I’ve done my research but what’s done in my community may not be the same as yours.. so bashing me for asking a simple question is crazy I didn’t ask for all the doctors on this app and their advice so find somebody else to jump on🤷🏽‍♀️

woahhh shaming someone for being a stay at home mom is WILDDD. sorry that i will not fuck up my babies digestive system 💕 i simply was trying to explain the DANGERS of giving baby cereal at such a young age. (and used the example that a simple google research would help.) if you wanna give your baby cereal do it. but you will face the consequences. why rush him? you do you but i hate to see your poor baby get tummy problems because you want to give him cereal.

if you guys can not take a simple opinion that is different from your own, you will have a rude awakening. not everyone will agree with what you do.

@Kadence girl fuck you😂 find a hobby cause you’re clearly bored.

bitch BYEEEE🤣🤣🤣i would be mad too if i knew i was in the wrong like you 😅😅😅😅

@Kadence, who said anything about you being a stay a home mom? You are allowed to have your opinion, but I should have been kept to the question. But also understand that not everyone is going to agree with your opinion.

@Kadence plus, it was already stated that this was her doctor's advice. So no more should have been said about it.

@Mimi did. i stated my opinion and you and t’shari girl started getting rude and upset because i stated an opinion that is differently than yours. i simply wanted to express the dangers of giving baby cereal💕 my answer was about the question.

i didn’t come on here to argue, i just know the dangers because my cousin was given solids to early and now he has digestive problems and has to be tube fed.

@Maya girl she just want attention lol thank you for seeing it too

@Kadence, did you ever think you were the rude one? Or are you used to playing the victim? Cause you said someone shamed you for being an at home mom... I don't see anyone saying anything about that. Sometimes, you need to get out of your own head to see someone else's perspective.

@Kadence, you could have said that to begin with. But you came here with all that other bs. Be for real.

@Kadence lol 😆 you literally came here, how you gonna tell someone bye?

She gives her baby CEREAL some doctors recommend it for certain babies … she obviously knows her kid , ya acting like she came up here saying she gives her baby steamed broccoli w/ rice & chicken. Sometimes medical advice may not always even be the best advice but regardless at the end of the day everyone’s baby is different so don’t come up here trying to bash her for the way she tends to her child. Im quite sure that baby is loved and well catered to!

@Molly thank you💕

@Kadence if you feel shamed for me stating you're a SAHM, that's a personal problem. You're not a medical professional, for you to assert your opinion as if you have authority is insane. Sounds like from the rest of your rant that maybe finding a therapist would be helpful

i simply said what i thought. you guys are mad at us for “shaming” but what are you guys doing now? hypocrites asf. don’t like my opinion? move on. don’t post on here for answers if you aren’t going to be open to listening to all the opinions!

@Kadence you sound real desperate for attention. How again, you're on someone else post telling them to move on. Starting to sound more and more like a Keren.

@Kadence no dont do that. We dont mom shame here. Cereal is a common and safe treatment for reflux. Cereal is between a parent and pediatrician. If you dont have anything helpful to tell this fellow mother scroll on by.

@T’Shari ignore the mom shamers. They are just gross and bored. i dont spoon feed but i do put cereal in some of his bottles as advised by my dr. My baby had terrible reflux (i mean projectile all day every day) and was very underweight. Now little man is chunking up great, way less gas, an occasional spit up dribble but thats it. Best of all hes so much happier now that his stomach isnt bothering him anymore. We are waiting for his 4 month appt but at our 2 month the dr said we will likely add purees to his diet soon to help get his weight up. We are working extra hard on his neck and core control to get him ready if that is the case.

@Victoria I’m so glad your little one is doing better. I was so sad that I had to stop breast feeding and switch to formula and his little tummy was not liking it so that’s where cereal came in. I just know his doctor is gonna say the ok to purées because he has all the cues and his digestive system can take it. It’s hard enough being a young mom thank you for understanding💕
