My husband waits till the diaper is very heavy and saturated till he will change her. I change her about every two/ three hours sometimes longer if the diaper is not puffy. I feel like if I leaving her in soiled diapers she will get rashes and I rather not do that to her.
Am I in the wrong? Will pee not give her rashes?
How often is everyone changing their babies diapers?

I check if it needs to be changed with every feed and sometimes I check if she’s just being fussy in between feeds. If it’s got pee or poop any of those times I change but usually at least 7-8 times a day bc she eats every 3-4 hours. I told my husband to imagine he peed or pooped in his underwear how comfortable he’d be sitting in it for long periods of time and so now he checks too whenever she seems uncomfortable like she won’t settle bc that could very well be the reason

And yes, staying in either a wet or poopy diaper too long can cause diaper rash

We typically change our son around 12+ times a day. I will change him every time there is even just a tiny bit of pee, and he pees a lot lol.
Leaving it will definitely give her a rash! Not only that but it’s got to be uncomfortable just sitting in a huge puffy diaper completely full of pee and poop.
I like what the comment above said about tell him to imagine he peed/pooped in his underwear and was just sitting in it for hours.

Also, describe it this way, the baby is gonna be way more fussy and uncomfortable if a diaper rash appears. You already have the puzzle of figuring out, is he hungry, does he need to be burped, diaper change etc imagine now adding this painful rash that can’t be fixed with a boob.
Sometimes I find it’s hard to conceptualize baby’s pain, we all need these reminders.
Also, literally just had this convo with my hubby than I saw your post lol, you’re not alone

It can cause rashes and risks infection especially for girls. Not to mention it makes it harder for them to keep a body temp in a wet diaper because the pee gets cold. Not all kids will get diaper rashes, depends on how sensitive their skin is. My daughter was not but my son is seriously struggling with rashes despite changing about every 2 hours. Soon as I see it's blue I change it. I hate being wasteful but his health is more important to me.

I change every feed (2-3 hours) and check in between because she doesn’t cry or get fussy if she has a wet or stink diaper 🥲 staying in a soiled diaper will give babies rashes

Change the diaper the minute she soils it! We were exhausted in those first few weeks and we weren’t changing his diapers quickly enough, selfish. He ended up with an abscess in his rectal area. My partner would say “well it’s just a little bit of pee”, yeah no…Your baby cannot do it on their own, you have to do it for them. The urine can, and will burn her skin and can cause rashes, infections, etc. My mom offered up the idea of getting a water gun and spraying my partner in the crotch “just a little water, right?” Passive aggressive, but pretty straightforward. (I did not take that advice but it was pretty funny!)

It can sometimes leave a rash it just depends but i normally have to change my kids like almost every 7-12 times because my daughter drinks alot of water and my son hes only 7 weeks old so i have to change him a bit more

That’s so weird. You change her like any normal person would, so keep doing what you doing. Who wants to sit in a dirty diaper for hours? Fucking nasty.

Trust your gut and instincts mama - I change the baby whenever it’s blue or if I smell poo, no matter what.

The diaper companies say 6-7 diapers per day on average💚
We use a tallow based, zinc baby balm and seed oil free baby oil to prevent rashes and it has worked perfectly! We put it on every-time as a barrier. I don’t change his pee diaper all through the night and let him sleep. Once he poops I change immediately. Also it depends on what diapers you are using. We use honest or healthy baby.

During the day, I change the diaper every single time there is a pee or poop for both my daughter and my son. At night, I only change if it’s a poop.

We change diapers immediately when we notice anything, typically every 2 hours. We do go through the night but I think type of diapers matters and obviously how sensitive babies skin is. We use Huggies Skin Essentials and love them, wicks moisture immediately away from her. She will also tell us if we don’t catch it, she does not like a dirty diaper. 11 weeks in as a FTM and no rashes! My husband also changes her immediately, sometimes more often than me lol

I change my baby’s diaper every 30 mins or less

My husband will do the same it’s heavy when he wants to change it

I change every feed. So every 2-4 hours. And then anytime she gets up in the night. I do have a strong sense of smell. So once I smell urine or poop I change her right away.

I don't let my babies sit in wet/soiled diapers. I change them as soon as they wake up, and at least every 2-3hrs, or sooner if it's wet. I've had very successful potty training with my older kiddos (22 and 16) and I attribute that to not letting them get comfortable in wet diapers. Both were fully out of diapers by 2.5yrs at their own lead. I didn't have to do any "training" like people typically do with toddlers. The only time they go longer is if they are sleeping at night.
