Hi, when should my boy be using a spoon by himself? He doesn't even seem close to being able to use it, he'll hold it by the handle and by the other end and doesn't show signs of knowing how to use it. Any advice for teaching them how to spoon feed themselves please?

I agree, I never forced my boy to use cutlery because I know for sure he will learn it. He’s been showing more interest in using it recently and has become better at it. He’s used to just hit the food and it would fly off into space so I tried to feed him myself more
You could try loading the spoon or fork and laying it front of them for them to pick up. I found these handy little dipper style spoons great as they ‘catch’ a lot of the food in the holes unlike a spoon which can easily drop off. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vicloon-Silicone-Weaning-Feeding-Utensil/dp/B0BBGX33V6/ref=asc_df_B0BBGX33V6?mcid=619c3bb44c7f3aabb9f76c16fb12e574&hvocijid=8947718162071031111-B0BBGX33V6-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8947718162071031111&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045939&hvtargid=pla-2281435177338&psc=1&gad_source=1
