Milk

My little boy is 1 in 3 weeks and I’m thinking about starting to changing him over to milk instead of formula to see how he takes to it. Has anyone done it before they were 1 and if so which milk did you go on to ? We use either the below or the oatly whole oat drink just depends what we can get really.

I use the Alpro growing up milk which is better for children as recommended by a dietitian. You can use it in baking, cooking or even just small drink throughout the day or on cereal to get used to the taste. It took a few weeks for my daughter to get used to the taste x

@Julia yeah I saw that milk, is it the one that has the extra vitamins in that they need? When did you start giving to drink? Xx

@Courtney It is yes as far as am aware. I started just after she turned out due to a milk allergy and my daughter refusing to take any other milk but you can start now if you want. You can try by replacing an ounce at a time from your little boys bottle until it’s a full bottle of the different milk x

I started both my children on the alpro growing up milk at 13 months. none of them have CMPA though. First dietician recommended it as my son hated cows milk but wanted milk. Overtime he eventually tolerated cows milk though and now he loves it. My daughter was always sick after a cup of cows milk but so I just used what I knew

I swapped at 10 months, dietician advice. We did Alpro growing up oat milk and my 18 month old is thriving with it

@Julia after she turned how old sorry? 🙈xx

Oakley and Alpro oat are both reconvened as they are both fortified

We use this one has it was recommended by our dietician and it’s got the same required vitamins as the growing up milk x

@Courtney One😂x

Oatly is great - transitioned into it around the 1 year mark as we slowly stopped using formula. Kids should be receiving most of their other vitamins from food at this age so don't bother with buying so-called "growing up milk". It's only advertised because it's illegal for baby milk to be advertised for under 1s.

Absolutely give it a shot. The dietician told us that oat or soya were better options than hazelnut due to them being less threatening allergens x

If not boots sell 1-3 year old soya milk xx

@Cassie have you had a little one who you have transitioned on to it? Xx

No we went from Alfamino to soya xx

Maybe get the kids version as shown above. Adult version might not suit their tummy or digestive system

Started transitioning about 10.5/11 months as he started nursery. Did the same with both boys; used the alpro oat growing up milk xx

@Jessica we tried our little boy with the growing up milk on 3oz before and he seemed to take to it so hoping he will have that 🤞🏼xx

@Jessica when did you just give him the milk and fully stop the formula ? Xx

@Courtney might be slightly different as breastfeeding. But come 12 months, for both boys, all day time milk was alpro oat growing up milk with breastfeeding over night. Come 15 months had stopped breastfeeding altogether, so only offered solids, water and occasional cups of milk. X

Get the full fat version. It’s better for them
