I *think* there's something in semen that can bring on labour/contractions, I think it's one of the hormones or something they use to induce you 😅

It definitely did for me , went into labour 2 hours later!

My waters broke the next day, not sure if it was related x

Its not necessarily the sex , but it’s the sperm that helps soften the cervix that can help bring on labor

Didn’t bring on labor for me, but once labor began I effaced very easily, so maybe it helped with that. Semen contains prostaglandins

sperm will soften your cervix tho tbh it didn’t work for us though even 4+ times a day and my cervix didn’t budge until 41 weeks but also orgasms can start contractions so there’s two reasons why it’s helpful but it doesn’t work for everyone just like basically all of the induction methods

i think if your body is already close it can push things along. it did for me! semen contains prostaglandins which can soften the cervix, plus sex produces oxytocin which is a very important hormone for labor

@Izzie true! I think your body has to be ready and it can help speed things along. If it’s not ready it won’t do anything

I had sex the night before my water broke so possibly🥲BUT I had been having my cervix checked and was already dilated a couple cm so it could have been anything!

Semen can thin the cervix but an orgasm can induce labour too so if you can’t be bothered with full blown sex there are other ways to orgasm 😉

Didn't for me.. I was booked for induction at 41+4, tried the deed for the 2 days before and did nothing.
