When to start maternity leave?

Hi, when does everyone plan on starting their maternity leave or annual leave before mat leave? I had put two weeks prior but I have 8 weeks of work left and although it’s not physical, it is desk based but it is stressful work and I started to feel very overwhelmed and sick with it today but wary to cut in to my leave 😔

I'm in an office job and I'm due 31st July, put last day working 18th July and I had 9 days holiday left to use so I'm using that then starting mat leave works out to be 1st Aug but myself and my place of work agreed to do this so least I get my full July wage 🤣

I’m term time only and I work in a school so I’m taking it on my due date which is August. I’m hoping to have the strength to work till end of term

Due 15th August and finish 16th July. Nothing to do with my job I just want a break beforehand to relax and feel organised. My first was two weeks early and think this one may be the same 🥰

i’m due on the 12 august and going on mat leave from the 9 august 🫣 crazy i know

@Adjoa I'm the same, hoping to work right to the end which is the day we break up for summer. I'm then hoping if I can afford to take a year off I can 'return' July but really return September.

I’m due on the 19th of August, planning on taking the rest of my leave from the 25th of July and officially starting maternity on the 18th of August

I'm self employed, opted to take my maternity allowance from week 36 🙂 all being well, I will be doing what I can naturally to encourage her to come out haha.

Starting mine 4th July but not due till 10th August. Using annual leave to finish early x

I'm working part-time as a cleaner (which is already exhausting me) and still trying to get my freelance business established enough to take maternity earlier. I had hoped if established, I'd take it from about 32 weeks purely because it's such a physical job, but I just don't have enough money to do it at this stage and worried it's not going to work out that way at all. Still haven't given my notice for that very reason. It's the one thing stressing me out about this pregnancy

Im using anual leave to finish early, so holiday starts from 4th of July and maternity will start August. Im due August 6th xx

I am due on the 21st of August so I will start my annual leave on the 17th of July until my due date when I will start maternity leave ☺️ I do work in hospital and I am so tired.... I have a week of annual leave also starting from 18th of June to 30th so is no much just few more weeks before to be able to relax ☺️ before my little girl arrives.

I am due 11 of August and starting leave at the very end of July. However, i am on a research project part time (the other time is teaching) so work has decided to give me extra month of maternity leave for me to go early off the research project due to risk… so … I am half starting maternity leave End of June and half end of July 😅😂

I’m off from when I am about 34 weeks but the first month I have as holiday and so not starting maternity until about 38 weeks

I’m going off 36w with 2 weeks leave then mat leave starts at 38w. I worked til 38w last time and I found it really hard. I’m a social worker so my job is quite demanding/stressful

I’m due 21st August and using holiday from first of August then starting mat leave a week before I’m due. Already struggling with my 90 min commute each way 3x a week and sitting at my desk all day :(

I’m going off on my due date 😂

Im going a week before my due date

Baby being born by planned section 22nd August, finishing work to go on leave 31st July. This is baby number 2 and did the same with my first, just gave me a few weeks to chill, batch cook and nest really.....was bored but was worth it in the long run as I started MAT leave the day baby was born and will again x

Im due on the 5th August & I’m using annual leave for the whole of July and starting maternity leave on the 4th August

Im due 4th August and I've put 4th August to start my Mat leave. I'm a paramedic but have been office based since I told them I was pregnant in Feb. I work 3 12hr shifts a week still mon-wed so have 4 days off in a row. I think it's manageable for me to work up until my due date because it's quite laid back and I can take regular breaks and walk around etc. I want to be able to save my annual leave to use when my Mat leave ends.

I’m due 19th August and starting my maternity leave on 11th August. I’ll take 9 months from them and add this year’s annual leave on the end to take 10 months off in total. I’m home based with 1 day in the office but June will be my last month going in x

I’m due 26th August! I’m using my annual leave before Mat Leave, and I’m taking it EARLY! 11th July will be my last working day 🥳 this is my last child so I plan to take as much time off as possible. I plan to take 12 months mat leave and then a further 1 month AL (accrued) x

Due date 7th August but planned C-section so should be a week before that, I’m finishing 26th June but I’m on my feet constantly at work and it’s already getting hard xx

I'm due 24th August and planning to take a week annual leave before starting maternity. My manager is transferring my unused annual leave to next year so I can have more time off next year. We'll see how that goes 🙈🤣

Currently due 7th August (second baby) and last day of work is 11th July but my replacement is coming in from 16th June so I can start handing over and take it easy. My first baby we went over due xx

@Anna out of curiosity as I’ve been told about considering a section, has it been planned for close to your due date or a week before? xx

@Rebecca so the C-section is usually booked for “around” the 39th week and you usually get told the date on the 38th week, I had an emergency with my first this is why I’m going planned this time x

@Anna ok thank you! Xx

I'm using up my annual leave before hand so going off on 27th of June and maternity starting on my actual due date of 4th August x

I finish this month. I’m self employed photographer and I can’t do weddings now. Getting too much!
