Any nursing mothers eliminate dairy?

Hello! Our pediatrician recommended that I try eliminating dairy in my diet since our 9 week old baby has been spitting up, has skin rashes, is fussy and doesn't sleep long stretches, and has many blowouts. Just curious if anyone else has tried eliminating dairy in their diet, and for what symptoms in their babies, and if it was effective for the babies? I'm missing dairy and wondering how I know if it's effective? Thanks!!

Only if needed. You usually have to adjust for the babies needs. Breastmilk is personalized to needs. If your child’s pediatrician recommended it, ask your doctor if you have doubts.

my son’s 1.5 but when nursing I removed dairy. He was having blood in his stool and spitting up often. I did whole 30 diet, no more blood in stool but still spit up

We are going through this right now too. I’m on day 8 dairy free (although I had 1 slip up yesterday with some potato chips that had nonfat milk powder in the ingredients, ugh) and haven’t noticed any improvements. The main symptoms my baby has are skin rash and mucus in the stool.

My son had the same issue but I formula feed so our pediatrician has him on a similac alimentum

Our pediatrician recommended the same for me. However, my baby was going 5+ days without a poop but frequently passing gas. I no longer eliminate dairy because they wanted to rule out an allergy or sensitivity which she doesn’t have….Thank God. It was just a phase where she had to learn how to use those muscles to poop.

I eliminated dairy and it did nothing. My baby went on Pepcid for reflux and it’s been a week and it’s helping so much. The skin rashes he had were heat rashes. I started dressing him lighter and keeping him cooler. Also got mustela for non bath days.

Also, they can do a stool test to see if he has a dairy allergy

I eliminated dairy with my first baby. She was extremely fussy in at her for a week Marc we saw blood in her poop which resulted in a trip to the emergency room. I eliminated dairy that night and the next day she was like a different baby. It can take up to two weeks for dairy to leave Your system, but can start to see results within a matter of hours.

Hi! I cut out dairy from my diet because my baby was super gassy, and our pediatrician suspected a milk protein allergy. Later, I saw a holistic pediatrician who had me reintroduce dairy slowly—and it turned out he wasn’t actually allergic. His system just needed more time to mature. Just out of curiosity, since there does seem to be a connection—was your baby delivered via C-section?

Hi! Nope vaginslly. Was yours?
