My baby was the exact same until we got a sleepyhead. And now she loves it, I can put her down for a nap in it. It should fit inside your next to me crib or whatever you have. Honestly it’s a game changer. I personally wouldn’t leave them to cry it out, they’re so used to you and being held and warm in your tummy, it would cause a lot of stress to let them cry for so long. Try the sleepyhead! Xx
Think they’re called DockAtot now but it’s the same as a sleepyhead https://www.johnlewis.com/dockatot-deluxe-pristine-white-baby-pod-0-8-months/p5225715?s_ppc=2dx_mixed_fashion_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20155423421&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1yvZGMz9dgLJTyNLyTvfOF4N&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2fLp4eCxjQMVWpFQBh3rmCneEAQYASABEgIavvD_BwE
I personally wouldn’t use the sleepyhead as the Lullaby Trust advises against them, not being safe. My baby was also the same, only contact naps. However, he now sleeps if he is in the Love To Dream swaddle. He initially didn’t like it, but after a few tries it’s now the only way I can get him to sleep in his Moses Basket or Next to Me. I initially didn’t think he liked to be swaddled as he would always break free, but the Love to Dream is zipped so he can’t break free. I’d highly recommend it as I understand…. The contact mapping was so hard for me and lasted 6+ weeks until we tried this.
We use the love2dream swaddle and have a Purflo sleep pod inside the next2me. I think this is the only one that’s passed the safety tests.
I don’t think you’ve left it too late, some tips that might help, - put a top that smells like you over the cot mattress - put them in the cot in the day to get used to it, even if it’s when they are awake - make sure it’s warm enough/ they are warm - try a white noise that has a heartbeat/ womb sounds - start with it really close to you and gradually move it further away - personally, I don’t think cry it out works at this stage, they need to know they are safe and you’ll be there whenever they need you, so sit next to them and stroke their head gently, then go, then come back and do the same. Not a professional just my take from my 2nd baby who is now in cot , first one wouldn’t dare! Oh and also, when they are just wriggling/ making noise don’t run to sooth them, give them a chance to self settle, only intervene if they are crying
