Boob the baby on demand at night time
Hey, I pump every 2-3 hours, so do 8 pumps from when I wake up to when I go to sleep, including 1 pump in the middle of the night x
I am struggling to pump every 3-4hrs. It takes 30-40mins to feed and burp, then I have to wash and sterilise the pump parts. I am barely getting any time to catch up on chores or sleep. I am so exhausted 😭
Yeah exclusively pumping sucks!! I feel like I’m losing my mind. The stress of it all is too much! Luckily my husband is also off work at the moment so can help out with feeding or cleaning the breast pump when needed but not sure what I’ll do when he’s back at work x
I used to pump a lot more at the start but now 6 weeks and pump 2-4 x a day. Once in morning, afternoon, evening & middle of the night. I’ve got an oversupply in right breast - get 8oz in one pump! And an under supply in the left breast - sometimes only get about 2oz! It is all so tiring.. that’s why I’ve decided to pump less and focus more on feeding on demand when baby needs it
@Ceri I’ve just spoken to a feeding consultant because I have mastitis, in the over supply boob only pump so you’re comfortable don’t pump til you’re empty! Then that will help reduce the over supply so you don’t end up with mastitis like myself x
Fairly sure if you put the pump parts in a bag/container in the fridge you only need to clean/sterilise them once every 24 hours so that could save some time x
@Ruth I used to do this but then got nervous that it wasn’t the right thing to do. It did save a lot of time when I was doing it though!
@Emily I did it with my first but I didn't pump very often x
Every 4 hours I pump and clean all parts, sterilise once a day. Pump whilst walking, driving, feeding etc where I can. Helps massively. Also giving one formula feed to reduce pressure if I can’t get every pump in or have a lesser pump.
I pump everytime my baby feeds, have a wearable medela pump which helps even when im out. Its about every 3 hours for as long as it takes to releave the engorgement which is abt 15 min. My lactation consultant said you dont need to sterilise after each use, just once a day sterilise and then after each use just wash with milton bottle cleaner and cold water. The other alternative is to store in the fridge and then use.
I used to use Milton sterilising fluid instead to clean them , I also had a 2 pump machine and only used one of the pumps on both boobs while the other one was being cleaned / drying
I pump every 3 hours during the day and then just boob the baby on demand. I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I get about 3oz every pump give or take
