Do your babies eat ice cream?

My daughter's nursery have updated their "summer menu" and it has ice cream on at least twice a week. I don't think I want her eating ice cream yet but curious if others are giving to their LO.

We do on the odd occassion but i would say no to it being twice a week for sure

My little ones nursery dont give puddings to the under 2s

As above, mine has had it a few times, but wouldn't want it twice a week at this age. They just do yoghurts or fruit pots for puddings at our nursery while in the baby room (until 2).

We do ice cream whenever we feel like it BUT we offer her only the brand “ice cream for bears” it has only a few ingredient which are milk, cream and raw honey, it is organic and grass fed so it feels like a treat but it is actually super healthy! Maybe you could bring this ice cream to your daycare and ask to serve only this one.

We offer it occasionally on hot days but not twice a week and definitely not a full portion size

No, it’s way to early. Sugar is not good for them

My little girl has ice cream, custard and cakes at nursery for dessert regularly (as well as fruits and yoghurt on other days), they’re regulated and providing a home made, healthy, balanced diet so I sort of assumed they are offering healthier low sugar options 🤷‍♀️

When her teeth hurt we gave her one of the fruit juice ice lollies but now we make our own with chopped up frozen banana, thawed for 5 mins and a teaspoon of nut butter. All blended! She LOVES it!

I really wanted to follow the no added sugar to 2 advice but at the same time didn’t want to be that parent who made their kid eat something different to everyone else at nursery. She only goes once a week and has had shortbread and semolina there which we decided we’re fine with. Not heard about her having ice cream yet we let her try our ice cream when we have one sometimes but not a whole portion just a try. I guess it’s just about balancing other meals that day making sure dinner is super healthy

For special occasions - holiday / party etc
