Hello, has anyone ever pumped before going to deliver the baby? I was advised that it's good to pump a day before labor if you know the date so that food is available for the baby? I have never done it before
You're going to likely be pumping out colostrum most likely it's nice to have ....idk I pumped to induce labor (didn't work since I was induced at 38 weeks) I felt the volume was too small to worry about saving but they have colostrum savers on Amazon I think!
Im not a lactation expert but if you had no problems producing milk before maybe you won't need it? I feel like colostrum was hard to save since it's so concentrated. If you have the bandwidth for it though I'm sure it couldn't hurt!
I just don't know how much volume newborns need for a full feed. I think the nurses will know though!
Thats a great point. I struggled with producing colostrum with my 2nd son until a day after. He ate a lot and I don't think he was getting enough food until the nurses gave him formula to supplement.
