Road trip while pregnant

Hi ladies, okay so just wanted your opinions. My husband and I had planned a family trip with our kids to go on a 7 hour drive but of course take breaks, get out and stretch, and then we would stay the night at our destination in Drumheller, Alberta then travel another two hours a day later to Calgary, then stay the night and then travel another two hours to Fairmont Hot Springs in BC and stay in a cabin. Our total trip would be 10 days long. I am 26 weeks pregnant with our fourth baby. I mentioned this to my OB yesterday and he says I shouldn’t be going. I’m too far along now. I said what’s the farthest I could go and he said 2 hours. I feel so torn now like do we cancel our trip planned for next week or what? Sorry for the long post. ☺️

What's his reasoning? Why is it too long? Longest i did was 4hr drive while pregnant. But we did Drumheller, Calgary and Banff and Edmonton drives at 5 months pregnant

@Christine the reason is because the stage I’m at now like he thinks I’m too far along. I don’t have any complications with my pregnancy. When I mentioned it to him he looked at me like I was crazy for even thinking about a trip. It was the first time I met him yesterday.

Idk about a road trip but yeah at 5 months pregnant we flew from Ontario to Calgary and drove all around Calgary, to Drumheller to Edmonton to Banff and we were fine. I even hiked a mountain

I went to Europe when I was 26 weeks pregnant and my midwives said it was no problem, I don’t see how driving a couple hours from home would be an issue unless you’re high risk.

@Jordan I was 6 months pregnant when my husband and I drove to Montreal (8hr drive) and then spent the entire weekend walking all over the f1 grand prix. If you don't have any complications go, have fun and make memories with your family.

Sounds like he’s covering his own. I roadtripped from Calgary to Kelowna 7mo pregnant and my midwife said it’s based on my comfort level and that she can’t advise me either way. I wouldn’t have flown or gone anywhere remote other than the drive itself but we chose to go. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer here, just what you feel!

I took a road trip from Winnipeg to Edmonton at 38 weeks pregnant 😬. My midwife was okay with it she just gave me a copy of my file to take with me in case I went into labor while in Edmonton. I had absolutely no issues and got back home a week before my home birth

Did you already book everything? If not then maybe try something closer. I’ve been told the same thing. It’s because it’s not good for our bodies to be sitting more than 1 hour straight in a car. I’m going to be travelling this weekend and we will be making frequent stops as well .

Not sure what the reasons are for avoiding the road trip, but I’d ask the OB if not clear. I do know that it’s not recommended to go in hot tubs/hot springs while pregnant though
