Starting solids

My son will be starting solids soon. What did you guys prefer & get for your baby ? Did you guys get the baby food out the store or did your own thing ? Any advice is welcome too for first time

We started with veggies. I got the steam bags and a food processor. It's so much healthier for baby and more cost effective. I have 4oz containers from target that I can freeze. Carrots and peas were the first 2 and my girl lovessss them!

You can start solids at 4 months 🙂 also, with fresh veggies, they're not so pureed like baby food jars so it gives some texture to help baby learn to swallow

I did a combination of baby led weaning & just feeding her regular food. She’s 9 months still without teeth and has never choked 🫶🏻

Healthy healthy healthy!!! They get used to and like whatever you feed them

Watch out for added sugars & dyes!

@Lauren what’s baby led weaning ? Sorry still a learning mama 😭 I’ve been seeing this a lot but was kind of confused

okay I guess I’m dumb that is not the right term at all 😂😂😂 basically part purées and part just regular food and letting her figure out new textures temperatures etc

@Lauren lol it’s okay , thank you though that was helpful

I said I was gonna purée the food myself since I’m breastfeeding but I ended up letting him try beechnut purees. I’ve heard too much about gerber. No shaming at all I just don’t like what I’ve heard personally

@Faith I’ve heard lots too , I’ve been wondering what’s better

I started on purées around 6mo and then when I felt comfortable I made/boight chunkier food, but I always gave him food off my plate once he started showing interest so like if we were at Costco for ex I’d let him suck from the hot dog bun or pizza bread. Stuff I knew he couldn’t swallow whole but let his mouth explore. Stuff like fruit or veggie I made sure it was soft enough for him to mash in is mouth like bananas or boiled veggies with some pureed baby meat jars

Boiled organic ingredients from farm raised sources and then blended them for freezing. I stored them in glass 4 oz baby jars so I could use throughout the week.
