My son doesn't eat vegetables. I offer often and the texture and taste is too much for him. I respect his decision- it's my job to offer the food often and decide what food I offer. It's his job to decide if he eats and how much. Eventually his tastes will change. Toddlers are notorious for having a narrow diet.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE2X_g0Og6g/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== My son loves these chocolate muffins! I make them mini size and add a few chocolate chips to the top! My son also loves these spinach pancakes but only if I slather in peanut butter! (That’s a go to for me is adding peanut butter to anything he isn’t loving- works about 80% of the time lol) https://babyfoode.com/blog/easy-blender-spinach-pancakes-for-baby-toddler-allergy-friendly/ Also check out @ yummytoddlerfood on Instagram she has sooooo many toddler recipes and tricks for tricky eaters!
We just don't give ours junk at all so he doesn't have a taste for it Fruit is plenty sweet and when nothing works he will eat that Pancakes are a huge hit (we do no sugar added) but I will make a "jam" with just frozen berries microwaved with some chia seeds if you have them or mixed with apple sauce If you wanna bulk that up I'll do yogurt/peanut butter mix as a topping for the pancakes or peanut butter/apple sauce I just keep giving the veggies and everything else don't give up! Guacamole (premade is fine) on toast with butter is another big hit and healthy as well (you can add hemp seeds/other ground nuts to up the protein too) Bean/cheese quesadilla are also super easy to make and well loved But we always offer everything and my son seems to prefer things but so far has been avoiding being picky for the most part by just offering over and over again
What about soup ?
@Veronica have you tried the fruit and vegetable pouches? Simply organic from Ralph’s or Peter rabbit brand. We have to mix all his foods together so he can eat - mix rice with eggs and veggies. It’s like congee/porridge lol
if they like pasta, I blend spinach , kale tomatoes and add it with pasta spice I’m making , I found my son is not a texture person but if it’s in a sauce he’s about it and he love pasta and rice and you can put it on either
Same as Casey: we don’t offer junk food at all. We feed her breakfast lunch dinner and 2 snacks. If she doesn’t eat much at meal time, we don’t offer a “back up” food because that just reinforces pickiness. (If i don’t eat this, they’ll give me something better). We tell the babysitter the same thing. If she doesn’t eat much for lunch, don’t give her something else just put her down for nap and when she wakes up she’ll eat a bunch of green beans, tomatoes, a banana, and a cheese square lol. I always offer 3-4 options at a time and she eats what she feels like. For example today was grilled chicken, rice, and shredded cheese. If you pair with foods you know they like, they’re more likely to eat the other stuff. Their appetite has decreased at this age so they get their nutrients over a couple days span. We’re trying to teach intuitive eating (don’t eat if you’re not hungry & don’t force to finish plate or pressure into eating). She’s never had sugar or fried foods and is a great eater!
@Crystal do you add anything else to your sauce? I was thinking of trying spinach, tomatoes, and maybe tossing in some braised short ribs into the blender to get her some protein with the iron
Following! I'm dealing with the same issue. She won't even take her cold smoothies. She will take a kids protein shake (orgain kids), but nothing else
