My son just turned two and I’m wondering what age everyone started potty training and what worked best.
He’s mostly nonverbal and sometimes has a hard time understanding what I’m explaining or asking from him.
We started familiarizing her with the potty at 2 with potty books, talking about the potty, modeling how we use the potty, etc. but we're not trying to train until 2.5 or so. You can definitely introduce the potty and what it is. They say it can take longer if you start to early so you can always start to introduce it when you want and try again later if he doesn't seem to be getting it. You say he's mostly nonverbal - does he have a diagnosis or just a speech delay? If it's the latter, you might want to wait until he's able to communicate a bit more about the potty (telling you when he pooped, etc.).
