Oh wow really, I should just forget about it then. Are you waiting for 2 bed in band B?

Avatar

I am band B yes but mine was for a 4 bed so you should be lucky n get moved soon hopefully in the end I got my move due to my son's medical grounds getting worse I may have needed to wait longer had it not been for his poor health

Avatar

Oh sorry about your son. Glad to hear it worked out for you in the end. 4 bed is not easy to come by that’s why you waited that long. Are you in Wandsworth? How was the offer process? Did they call you or email you?

Avatar

Thank you an regarding the offer they called me and said they have a place for me let me view it 8 days later an after 3 months I was able to move in coz they had to build a few things

But when I was waiting for a 2 bed it took less then a year with some people they can work fast with others they work slow I think it just depends on your case worker really mine was great 1st time round I was lucky an yes I am with Wandsworth still

Do you have any tips for me to expedite it? It has been over two years since I applied still waiting. I see the council have 81 new house building will be completed this year. When they started to hand them out hopefully my queue will do down quickly

They will tell you that you can't do this but you can

If you see empty place's that suite your needs that you are entitled too you can then call them a give them the address an ask to be allocated to it my friend just got her 4 bed house this way

Avatar

This is so helpful thank you. How did your friend the empty place?

Avatar

It was actually a house next door to my mum but you can find any place in Wandsworth they can 100% give it to you as long as it's not already been allocated to someone else

Avatar

Will they not say it will be offered for the person who has been waiting before me? How do you have to word it to convince them

Avatar

how long have you been waiting for? x

Avatar

No if they haven't offered to someone already you can be considered for it just tell them you seen a flat empty and you'd like to be concidered for it to allocated to you worse they can say is no honestly I seen a few people get there homes this way

Avatar

who do you contact to ask? your caseworker? x

Avatar

yes that's correct they will tell you though that this isn't how they work but I know of at least 5 people in the last year that's have got their homes this way x

Avatar

thank you really appreciate your advice. I will keep an eye out for empty places. If you or any you know, know an empty place please let me know x

Avatar

You are most welcome and of course I will keep a Look out in my area for you x

I know it’s an old post but just wondering, would they be offered a private house where the council helps pay for the rent or is it an actual council property? I’ve been on the waiting list since 2018🥲. If it is a council, how did they know as usually they wouldn’t have a sign outside the door the way private ones do?

Avatar

hey sis i can’t believe you’ve been waiting since 2018🥲what band are you? do they have you in temporary accommodation? I think usually people find empty council places by word of mouth but you can ask them to help you rent a private property, also i know lots of new housing association flats are being built and the council is usually able to give a few spaces in those x

Hi hun, I’m in a fixed term council flat since 2016. I was offered this after being in temporary accommodation when my daughter was 18 months. I’ve has two more kids since so severely overcrowded in this one bed. I’m waiting for a transfer to a three bed
