Sharp shooting pain in breast going to nipple

I've been breastfeeding for coming up to 6 months now but since this morning I've had a sharp shooting (almost stinging) pain in my breast. No heat or anything and I don't think it's the nipple that's painful. I've been trying to feed mostly on that side to see if it'll clear anything up and there's no pain either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be or what I can do?

Could it be a let-down ? Thats how I feel every time right before having a let down and sometimes I don’t always leak just have the sensation

My opposite to feeding boob does this while I’m feeding or if I switch, it’s like as my son is on my right my left wants to leak but doesn’t so feels like a shooting pain, almost a build up, I usually just pinch my nipple to let a little bit out and it goes away, sometimes certain ducks get more full than others

@Redss I've never felt my let down so I'm not sure, is it normally painful?

@Jasmine this sounds like it good be it as when I express a tiny amount it seems to get better but then comes back again

@Amy yeah it definitely can be painful, its like a sharp piercing shooting pain right before the let down happens

@Redss yeah sounds about right then, is there anything you do to stop it?

@Amy I usually just press against my nipples and it goes away pretty quickly but sometimes it’s inevitable it just happens

Also sounds like a painful let down to me, it was horribly painful for me for most of the first year then went away on its own, I still get it sometimes if I haven’t fed on one side for a little while
