You can ask the midwife for a duplicate copy. They can give you another one they just have to write ‘duplicate copy’ on top
Just ask for another mat b form or just get the midwife or health visitor to sign and stamp it. You can apply up to 6m after having baby I got it 4 months after having my first and the health visitor just stamped my thing I sent it off
When do you need to have submitted these forms by? Sorry - first time mum here with no clue what she’s doing 🙈
@Hannah 11 weeks before baby’s due date or after baby is born. No problem I’m also a first time mum and am confused af ahaha hence my questions.
Do you have to fill out the form in writing and send it off or online I’m so confused
@Hannah you can apply for the grant up to 6months after baby is born
@Charlotte it’s all writing get your health visitor to help you give them a message and say you need help filling and signing the form in they’ll will sign and stamp it it’s free post
@Charlotte job centre sent me the form I called to ask it to be sent to my Address, I filled it in and then have my MATB1 that my midwife provided which I am sending with the form in the post. You can do this or go print the form yourself. Yes it’s all in writing and not online
ask ur midwife to do a dup, i had to apply twice as first one got rejected as wasnt getting any UC at the time. so had to ask for a dup matb1
@Charlotte u print it off the gov.uk site then fill it in and send it to job center or take it in
I don’t get uc does that mean I don’t get it ?
@Charlotte do u work?
@Charlotte i moved before i was entitles to mat pay and wasnt able to get a job when i moved, so had to apply for UC but didnt get any money till baby was born due to how much my partner earned (only just over min wage) but they dont tell u this when u fill it in, u actually have to be getting money from UC to get the grant if u dnt work and state u get UC, just being accepted for UC but not getting money doesnt count
@Charlotte you should sign up and get universal credit you’ll get chikd element money for your self help with rent etc then child benefits is separate with uc if you work and you make less they’ll top you up aswell try applying for it then apply for the sure start grant you’ll only get it once if you have a second baby and never had it with your first baby you won’t get it they expect you to keep everything stored for your next baby so on so you get it the once for first baby’s

@Rose I don’t know how or if I’ll be entitled to get it as I worked before and I’m on mat pay ( apprenticeship mat leave so fuck all ) I don’t know if they would accept me
@Andrea I did before I had bubba
@Charlotte https://www.gov.uk/sure-start-maternity-grant/eligibility this is the eligibility checker
@Charlotte in that case u should get it
@Charlotte apply for UC, the worst that can happen is they dont award u UC, altho with a baby on the way they should help with child element, and rent defo once baby is born. and dependinf how much u earn u could get money for yourself. but if u live with ur partner u need to apply for join, and then they take in account how much ur partner earn when it comes to money for urself but it wont affect the rent or child element.
@Charlotte message me if u need help and we can go through it together. the process for UC and Child benefit and Sure Start Grant x
@Charlotte you’ll definitely get universal credit and if your only on mat pay get your health visitor to help you or midwife if your still under them they should’ve asked then once you apply for that apply for the grant. Sign up for uc online you’ll then get a appointment to go face to face to show your id etc then you’ll get paid after if your entitled x
@Charlotte also apply for healthy start card for you and baby you’ll get 17 for your self and baby then goes to 34 every 4 weeks after baby born once there 1 it’ll go back down to 17 until there 4
@Rose not always true rose, i didnt get UC till baby was born, and only get for him and rent. and i keep getting rejected for healthy start
its cos i dont UC for myself only baby plus my partner is just over minium wage so not entitled to any money for myself
and yet i get £0 personal element
@Andrea she said she’s not working and getting mat pay it’s always better for her to sign up still if she makes under then they’ll top her up
I photocopied my MATB1 form and sent a copy with both😬
