DV shelter

I wanted to ask I’ve never asked or called for help. I’m thinking now is the best time. I’ve been wanting to leave my son’s father. Got in a huge fight this time it was in front of our son and he would cry. He pushed me against the garage cement wall and I thought I bled but I was fine just a huge bump is all. I don’t feel safe and I want my son to never go through that again. I have nowhere to go. Are DV shelters free how long can i stay? I have no job
