First dentist appointment🪥🦷??

When did you guys first start taking your little to the dentist? I know a lot of what I read says you should as soon as they start getting teeth and/or 1 year old. I brush her teeth 2-3x a day already. I’m a FTM & I’m just nervous because she is very scared of strangers. She takes up with women a little easier, but out family dentist is an older male. I feel like she’s gonna flip out when he even walks in the room 😭😭. Any tips??

My son got his first tooth at 4 months he’s 9 months now his first appointment is next week. Maybe take her favorite plushie or toy for comfort? Or maybe try not to coddle her too much like everything is normal until she shows you she needs you first? Sometimes my son will be completely fine in a situation that I think may scare him and I start to baby talk him then he’ll whine

My dentist suggested taking my little first for one of my cleanings when she is 1. They said they would sit her in the chair, look in her mouth, and let her get a feel for things, plus she would get a bag full of goodies (tooth brush and stuff). That way her first experience is a positive one. However, my little had a lip and tongue tie, so we had to go to a pediatric dentist to have them released, and I really liked their office better for her than my dentist. So, I will be taking her there instead of my dentist. We have a follow up from the procedure next week and I’m gonna ask them when they want to start seeing her for dental check ups. I would call your local pediatric dentist and ask them when they want to start seeing your little.

My dentist said 2 onwards.

Maybe you can look at finding a paediatric dentist instead? They usually have better accommodations and approaches for babies, especially ones who may struggle during their visits. A dentist in a parent group strongly recommended it so might be worth looking into.

Our baby got her first tooth at four months and we took her to her first at a year and she had 13 teeth at that point. Her next checkup is at 18 months.

I just took mine at 18 months. They just count the teeth and they can put fluoride on them.

As soon he got his first tooth or teeth

My son at 6 months had 4 teeth and took him around that time. He just had his second appointment yesterday he got 16 teeth, he cried for a few minutes while the dentist was checking his teeth but he was fine before and after. I kept him busy looking a the decorations on the wall and talking to him.

We started when she turned 1 and appts every 6 months. I also brush teeth 2x per day specially the last thing at night after she is done eating and drinking. We dont do juices, only water and milk. I also floss the teeth that touch which she has a lot.

My son didn’t have any reaction he just let them check his teeth I took him to his appt for a normal doc appt his doc was asking what all does he drink water during the day milk in the morning and at night occasionally juice she was judging she kept asking what all does he drink I kept repeating myself like what you want to hear
