I havnt been to church since before Covid😬

I used to go to church every single Sunday,Christmas,Easter,Ash Wednesday and the rest, I used to pray all the time and had a strong connection with god. Growing up as a teenager exploring social media and social aspects, I lost my connection to god , I still have ALWAYS believed however I stopped following a lot of rules and with covid stopped going to church. I am not married to my current partner and father of my child and there’s a lot of the catholic faith I don’t fully believe or agree with, but I believe in god, Jesus and Mary and that we should follow good morals. Am I a bad catholic, how do I get back into the routine of praying more often, being more modest , going back to church. How can I incorporate religion into motherhood with my two week old.

You’re not a bad Catholic at all, were all human and it’s great you want to strengthen your relationship with God! Just start off by praying a decade of the rosary each day, attend confession and mass at your local parish!

I second that and also the hallow app will help with daily rosary, readings etc., do follow that. Minno YouTube channel is great for kids, I play it every morning it's a great way to learn Bible stories, try to play Jesus songs as well. It really helps when they are growing. Try to pray for your baby every morning after waking up and before going to bed by blessing with holy water and prayer. I hope this helps

Confession unfortunately cannot be granted if not married ā˜¹ļø I tried it but the priest told me I cannot confess or be forgiven of my sins due to me not being Married by the church and having a child out of a church marriage.

ahh okay makes sense! I was unable to be baptised as I was in a similar situation and living with my husband with our 2 children before we were married. It definitely took a toll on my faith at the time so I understand where you’re at. I would suggest maybe doing an rcia even if you’re already baptised so you can iron out any misunderstandings you have with the faith. Are you planning on getting married anytime soon? I only ask as I feel like once we got married I definitely felt different.

You’re not a bad catholic at all. I converted when I was 20 when I was in a relationship and had one baby. Now we are engaged but we’ve certainly made mistakes and even had a second baby šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø it’s not how I would have liked to have done things at all but god willing well be married next year and I love that I have an absolutely beautiful faith to share with my children. We end every night by saying our thank you prayers to god together while we do bathtime which my toddler loves. My fiancĆ© grew up catholic but has definitely drifted away from his faith. We go to mass every Sunday as a family despite all this and centre our week around it. I love listening to fr Mike schmitz podcast while I’m busy doing mummy things and find it easier to pray if I use hallow to pray alongside someone and can have this playing while my baby is feeding. I hope you find peace in your journey and god bless you. Feel free to message me anytime because it’s something I absolutely love to talk about šŸ¤ x
