Baby slouching in highchair

My baby is forever slouching when eating no matter what I do. He does like to sit with his feet on table and I think that’s what he’s doing, he’s 9 months old… any tips?

My son is now 1 year old and he still does this (we call him baron lean-back). We noticed that when we went out to eat places that had the ikea high chair (which is less spacious) he wouldn’t do it, so I think maybe it was the seat we bought. We bought one of those blow up cushions to wedge at the back of him and that seems to have helped

Have no tips but my son is doing exactly the same and has been since forever, he’s almost 13 months now! He does this in his pram too it’s super annoying

thought i was the only one, my hand literally is aching me from the amount of times ive had to pull him up, worrying of spinal issues 😭😂 hes 1 years old and literally eats slouched no idea 😵

Depends on the style of highchair. Our highchair wouldn’t allow my son to slouch if he tried but one his great grandma has is huge and he got lost in it😂 we had one suitable from newborn.. meaning they can use it as a seat obviously my newborn wasn’t eating

Assuming he can sit independently normally and there’s no concerns on that front, could he just feel too far away from the table? My baby is only two months, but he loves sitting at the table and is often content to sit in his high chair while I eat breakfast (he’s had great head and body control from the start). I’ve found he’s less likely to slide forward if he’s closer to the table. Not close enough to physically hold him there, but he often wants to put his hands on the table. If I move forward with him on my lap, he stops sliding down like that.

Has it got a footrest? Having a footrest on the chair helps them to keep themselves upright x

We have some of the inflatable ikea inserts for our high chairs and they are working a dream to stop the slouch. I think the high chairs have such a vast age range they just don’t fit well when they’re little. We have little boosters that attach to chairs when we go out too because returning high chairs are just useless in most places

I mean he can walk so definitely no problems there he used to be done but now he appears to be lazy… he’s always fed himself too so I’ve no idea

maybe It’s just a faze. Sounds like it’s not uncommon from the other comments. Hopefully he starts sitting up right again so you don’t have to worry

I think that high chair calls for a slouch, the way it’s back is slanted. We had the ikea chair- he couldn’t slouch in that he has to sit upright because there was no full back to hold him like the pic does.
