Birthday party

Do you really need a party? Im not, im doing a cake smash on a separate day and on the birthday im taking him to a play centre or something. Maybe have a party at a play centre instead ? No mess for you that way and its cheap if its a local centre..

when i say ‘party’ its a small get together. Have found a hall for cheap and won’t be spending lots so that’s fine and have already invited people!

I think it really depends how many people you’re having and what you’re doing. We’re having a picnic party at a local park so the older children can run around. If it was just a few people I’d definitely keep it simple. But church hall chill parties are the way to go when they get older imo!

We were originally going to do a bbq in the garden but we got soft play and realised there’s way too many kids that we know for the garden. 😂 so now we got a local hall close to us and will have the parents with young kids for the morning then will do a bbq in the garden for everyone else.

We booked out a community centre just at the bottom of where we live with a soft play and bouncy castles for my daughters birthday all her family and friends came along xx

We considered it too as we are planning a small family BBQ (20ish people) but concerned the weather won't play ball. I don't think we have enough kids coming to justify a hall / soft play center though, so will probably stick to the BBQ with fingers crossed and a marquee just in case 🤞

I’ve just had a party for my one year old and absolutely loved it. Hired a church function room and hired soft play there eg. With it being in a hall you could put a little spread on (depending on if you want to or not) whereas if you have it at a pub function room eg, they tend to provide the food for you, it’s more expensive but it’s if you would rather the hassle for cheaper or not.

I had comments saying dont have a party she wont remember it but I do think, theyre only one once and you would rather have one to look back on than regretting not having one xx

Have it at home! It's not worth hiring somewhere until they are 4/5yrs really. We just had a BBQ this weekend, 15 people including a couple of kids. Was really lovely, although obviously work in doing food and tidying up, but it's definitely much easier. My 3, yr old will be having a hall and bouncy castle for his 4th.

Thanks everyone! Even if I do get a hall it won’t be a ‘big’ thing - it’s just somewhere with indoor and outside space and I’ll take some activities and food along. Most indecisive person ever so that doesn’t help 😂😂

We did a big party for my eldests 1st birthday and I'll be completely honest it was a waste of money she was so overwhelmed, we hired somewhere, hired a soft play thing, balloons everything and i can tell you that you dont need to, you can do something just as special at home.

Its my youngests birthday next week and were doing her 1st birthday at home no fancy cake just a low key but im doing all the decorations were doing a berry first birthday xx

thank you! I think I’m more worried about the weather, having enough space and it being super stressful at home. People have said they to me they regretted it at home as it was so much rushing around but I’m planning on telling people to help themselves and not do loads of hosting haha x

Having done both for my first - pro's & cons of both!
Home is far easier for setting up/ cleaning etc as there's no time restraints. Hiring somewhere is good if you don't want people hanging around or mess in your house 😆 It's definitely personal choice/ opinions. We're having our little boys 1st birthday at home as it's only close family & friends so don't need a big hall xx
