Water (boiled or not?)

My baby girl has turned 6 months and we are weaning her. She’s been having purées since 4.5 months and now we are starting to introduce some solids!
I know we can give them water from 6m onwards and I’ve seen some people saying about giving their babies tap water.
Does anyone know if this still needs to be boiled water that’s been cooled down?

We formula feed and the method I’ve always used is that we fill the bottle halfway with boiled water, add the formula and then fill up the rest with cold water (cooled down boiled water).

Do I still need to be doing this or is it ok to just top up out the tap now?

Thanks

I would keep going with the boiled water until you no longer sterilise or feel comfortable giving it to her straight from the tap, I cooled boiled water with my first (EBF) until I personally felt comfortable giving it to him straight from the tap.

In the end I gave it to him from the tap as he was putting things into his mouth off the floor and I wasn't sterilising the water cups/cutlery etc we were using to feed him!

You’re fine to give normal tap water from 6 months. Save yourself the faff 😀

Tap water is fine from 6 months but if you wanna do cool boiled that’s fine as well. Just not bottled

Straight from the tap is what we did. She was crawling around 6 months too (now 13 months) so sterilising things became pointless as she's try and eat the dog biscuits

Tap water is fine from 6 months old, that’s what we did.

Always boiled water with formula, but for drinking on its own they can just have tap water. Saying that I did use cooled boiled water at 6-7m then just used tap water x

I think the recommendation is to boil and cool the water until 12 months to help reduce the amount of bacteria

We just use tap. We still sterilize all her bottles.

@Sera Kay ✨ just in case you might not know, boiling water kills bacteria and microorganisms but does not remove toxins of any kind. Certain water filtration systems may do that but not all.

The advice is 12 months but I didn’t realise this until a month ago and have been giving her tap water (but filtered)

Lots of mixed advice here. Best to look at the recommendations where you live.

The NHS say you need to use boiled water to make formula bottles and sterilise after use, so continue to make bottles the same way you have always done.

Drinking water can be straight from the tap with meals.
