Chipped tooth

Hey mamas! sorry for the awkward pic lol it was hard to take the photo. yesterday my 13 month old son smashed his mouth on the ground yesterday and his lip was bleeding and that’s all i saw until today i noticed his tooth was chipped. We just moved here from Washington so we don’t have health insurance, i just applied and am waiting to hear back. he doesn’t seem in pain but honestly i feel horrible for this and don’t know what to do about this. i don’t know if i should be as stressed and worried as i am, but its hard not having a course of action to follow. He is my first child so i really don’t know what im doing and im trying my best but man this is hard! Suggestions & support??? tia 😔😞❤️

Baby teeth fall out so don't stress too much but when you can get it checked as better safe than sorry xx

my son did this when he was younger too, and currently has a chipped baby tooth! i did take him to the dentist to get checked but they said everything was absolutely fine and these things happen, he won’t have a chipped tooth forever 🤣 xx

my little one chipped her tooth about a month before she turned 2. i was distraught over it, we took her to the dentist and she said that there’s nothing to be done about it. even if they could repair it it probably wouldn’t last and it’s not really worth making a toddler sit through that. all they did was slightly file it where it was a bit pointy. they told me to keep an eye out for the tooth during grey as that can indicate nerve death or decay inside the tooth. luckily that hasn’t happened and it’s healed just fine. i’m sure your son will be okay! so sorry that happened i understand how much it sucks and especially to see them in pain :(

My son just chipped his tooth as well due to a fall (9 months) and keeps grinding the others causing them to chip. They chip so easily. Still working with the pediatrician/dentist to try to find a solution. I’ve been told to do Vit D drops (he’s breastfed) and alternative sources of calcium (he’s allergic to dairy) to strengthen the bones. Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone

I was/am absolutely distraught and took like a million photos and now I check every time he falls because I’m so nervous 😭 So I feel you

As ladies said above 👆🏼 and also aslong as it doesn’t go dark/black at the gum (could mean it’s infected if it bled and can then affect adult tooth underneath) but otherwise should be okay until you can get it checked incase it’s sharp and needs smoothing. They say here (in uk) if you have the broken off part of tooth to put it in milk or saliva and they can glue it but I doubt they actually often do that and will just file it and say it’s fine 🙂 I wouldn’t worry too much - these things happen! My toddler chipped both of his front teeth 🫠 They told me to be on the look out for discoloration & sensitivity (reacting to or avoiding cold/hot food & drink). You should also check his lips & cheeks to make sure it isn’t cutting or irritating inside his mouth!
