Newborn poo

Hey, so I was told that this is normal for exclusively breastfed babies as they don’t have much “bad stuff” to poop out. Mom’s milk has nutrition needed for growth. As long as he is peeing and does give a poop in 24 to 48 it’s quite normal. I was told sometime it’s days. My 8 week old (corrected 3 weeks) has been on breast milk with fortifier added and had similar “issues”. Even when she was on exclusive breast milk, her poops weren’t always daily.

I breast feed and there would be three or four days between each bowel movement. It’s totally normal at that age. After 5+ days and if she started crying and not settling then I’d worry. We gave her less than half a dose of mommy’s bliss (since they don’t make it for that young) and with in a few hours she would have the worst blow out… but she was much happier

Totally normal! I think they can even go up to a week. My pediatrician said that as long as his belly is soft and his BMs are soft that he’s fine. He said we could give him an ounce of juice if needed for constipation. We’ve done it twice when he was clearly very uncomfortable.
