Amount of formula given

I've just switched from breastfeeding to formula. My baby has had 40oz so far from midnight and it still hungry, he's been drinking 6oz a time and Google is telling me this is too much but he's giving hunger cues. He constantly wee's but drs said it's fine. Just overwhelmed with it all and looking for any advice

(11 and a half weeks old)

My wee one was also taking 'too much' but it seems to have calmed down now and evened itself out. I think it was maybe just a stage or growth spurt.

My LB is also drinking 6oz a time and he has a 7oz bottle before bed. He has always had “too much” but he’s a very content baby! And he doesn’t sick any of it up which I assume he would do if I was over feeding him. He’s a very hungry baby!

Whsts the weight situation? Gaining well or too much too soon?bHow old is your little one? Today health visitor said for my 12 week old no more than 28oz - but she only has 20-24oz as I was worried she wasn’t having enough. But she’s gaining weight perfectly xx

I wouldn't worrie. As long as there not bringing it back up he's fine. My 13 week old is on 8oz bottles. Sometimes take an extra 4. I let my boy tell me when he's done and don't restrict how much he has. But he was a big boy from birth

11 and a half weeks, born a lot smaller than expected 2nd centile (placenta problems) and from breastfeeding has gone up to 24th centile, I haven't weighed him since switching to formula. He's not been sick or anything but obviously when he's been breastfeeding I've had no idea "how much" he's had

Of course! You can get forumla for hungrier babies it might be worth looking into that?? As 40oz seems very excessive but of course if baby is hungry you’re going to feed isn’t it so I would just continue giving botrle, but if you know little one smashed 6ish an hour ago and they show feeding queues I’d cwtch up with a dummie first and see if that settles little one before opting for a bottle. 6oz every 3-4 hours can be quite normal at this age it seems xxx

I wouldn’t go by what google said if he’s keeping it down and hes gain weight at a good pace to his centile it’s okay. On the tin it says my baby should be on 6oz but she will only stomach 4/5oz. Its an estimate so wouldn’t worry too much, you can get hungry baby formula but I would maybe just ask first just incase

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
