Does anyone here or have in past formula fed? I’m due in 9 weeks … will be using Kendamil but I’m worried I won’t know how to prepare the bottle.. I’m watching videos and I’m getting stressed about the amount/ hot shot method/ swishing/ temp… 🤯 and how do I warm up the ready to feed bottle in the hospital?? I’m seeing my midwife tmo but just wanna know now
I have a prep machine that I’ll be using at home…
If you can shed some light that would be great 🤣

If you want to formula feed in hospital I’d recommend getting some bottle of ready made it’ll be so much easier! You can even get ones that come with teets so you don’t have to bring bottles to hospital! If you’re making a bottle fresh you won’t need to warm it up as it’ll be hot from using boiling water. I’d recommend bringing a rapid cool to cool the water down! Hot shot method is using a small amount of boiling water to kill all the bacteria and then topping up with cooled boiled water so the bottle is a safe temperature to drink ☺️
I’m getting the ready made but I wanna know how to do it at home lol,
Can they have them straight from the bottle if I give ready made without warming up?
I’m just asking how you make the milk using the prep machine when you’re at home… I get worried id make it wrong or won’t know how much to put in and then don’t know about these hot shot things x

No need to warm up a ready to feed bottle in hospital (or ever, really). Your best bet is using the bottles that come with pre-sterilised teats as they will take soooo little, you’ll only be wasting anything bigger when they’re first born.
When it comes to making bottles, if you are getting a prep machine then you just need to follow the instructions. Your formula box will have recommended amounts on; follow those until your baby tells you they want more (or less). Roughly it is 1 scoop per 30ml.
My best advice honestly is stop watching videos as you’ll get yourself more worked up than you need to! X

The ready to feed bottles don't need to be warmed however if you would prefer to warm them then you can ask a midwife at the hospital when there (usually it's just a case of heating it in a bottle warmer/ standing in warm water)
Personally I have always loved the Nuby Rapid cool over the prep machine (I know the NHS don't recommend them) as I found it so much easier and stress free plus can do it anywhere as well as easy to take out with you.
I use the hot shot method where you use a little boiled hot water in the bottle with the amount of formula powder needed then in the rapid cool I have the rest of the water needed to make up the bottle which cools the feed to the perfect temperature. So that's always an option to look into if you feel a bit overwhelmed and want something a bit simpler to try x
thank you, that’s very helpful. That’s all I needed to know ☺️ yes videos just confuse you !!
I’m also getting the rapid cool just haven’t purchased it yet. For when I’m out, thank you for that information as well as that’s going to be helpful. Xxx
