Sick Note & HG Doctor Rant!!!

I would ask to speak to the practice manager that is so unprofessional. And make sure you tell them you need this note and if they don’t give it it’s considered medical negligence. As soon as you mention negligence they will get scared and give it to you straight away. But I would definitely ask to speak to the practice manager. Xxx

Ew that’s horrid of her !!! Tell her that HG IS infact a disease and you are not fit to work! That’s awful and so dismissive of her! Get her fired 😆!

thank you I’m going to try again tomorrow with a different doctor! I literally can’t walk from room to room without feeling sick and she is trying to force me back to work!

I told her even my manager said I’m not fit to work, and she her response was I’m a doctor not your manager! But my manager knows better as far as I am concerned as she knows the physical aspects of event managing! I just want my note, it’s making me stressed! Going to complain once I have it!

Oh wow! Straight to PALS complaint! Or get someone from PSS to give them a call or send her HG resources to educate her about HG. It’s not just morning sickness. And the constant nausea can be so bad too… it depends on your all over state and if you can get out of bed/ eat/drink/ function at all. Not just on how often you are sick…

Absolutely report her! I would expect the ignorant ’well when I was pregnant’ comments from some people, but that is incredibly inappropriate of a doctor to be openly comparing their own experiences to a patient’s! She definitely does need some more education.

Imagine someone is struggling severely with mental health and she goes ‘well I had depression once and you just have to get over it and push on with life until it goes away, no meds or time off work for you.’ She should NOT be treating vulnerable people in the community. She should only be viewing you as a patient and person, not an employee- what concern is it of hers if you’re off sick???? Isn’t it unpaid leave? So you’re just trying to keep your job for when you’re better and she has a problem with that?!?! I’m pissed for you, Tabz. Don’t let her get away with this. Next she’ll be saying you’re not sick enough to be prescribed medication.

Don’t know why she kept referring to her own pregnancy 30years ago!!!

They haven’t even helped me with my sickness, just
cyclizine initially which was rubbish and told her so, and now it’s just acid reflux tabs, on my maternity notes she also had the cheek to right I was feeling better when i told her I was still sick!!! so the least they can do is give me a two week note!

I also read on the Pregnancy Support Sickness website about pressure to do the urine test on checkups, I was made to do this last time by the same doctor even though I said I would find it difficult as I don’t drink much, it makes me feel quite sick, I was made to sit there and force myself to drink water for 20mins just to give a small sample, no alternative offered or come back in the morning, it was constant no you have to sit there and drink until you can do it, ended up going home more sick from the doctors that day!!

I’m not at all familiar with the medical system in the UK, but can you find a different doctor?
She sounds negligent, dismissive, and like she needs fo retire from being a doctor if she can’t learn that science and medicine are constantly evolving. I hope you will report her before she truly truly hurts someone vulnerable.

I had this happen to me in the US. At that time I had no energy left in me and no brain neurons to keep fighting for leaves and with doctors to get the care I needed. Of course I was not fit to work either (so I had to Quit… my manager told me to reapply when I was ready to come back to work). I wish I had known back then the website for HG with all their resources. I would have sent it to my doctor and even read it to her.
And if that didn’t help I would have looked for a different doctor that actually knows about the sickness. The HG website has a referral network (they have from different countries around the world).

I have read in other posts that the UK has also a clinic for help with nausea & HG in pregnancy and they know the condition. Maybe call them and ask for a referral to a doctor that will do their job right. The website above lists the one in US. This is the one in the UK.

Hello. I can’t believe this reading it! This doctor is not only unprofessional but inhumane and clearly knows not one jot about HG.
I have had to complain to my ICB (integrated care board) about the treatment and attitude I received from my GP surgery whilst dealing with HG and let me tell you they should take those complaints seriously. Please write down everything that happened and was said whilst it’s fresh in your mind and send a complaint! In the meantime ask to be transferred to a different GP in the practice.
The other alternative is to go to your EPU or later pregnancy unit in hosp and ask for meds and treatment. When my gp was being shit I went straight to hosp and they said they would take over my HG care. It was annoying as it was much father but they fought my corner for the meds I need. So sorry to hear you’ve been through this, that GP ought to be suspended 😖
