Sometimes the ends of my Roma tomatoes form scab-like ends (see pic). Does anyone know if this can be prevented? My beef steak tomatoes aren’t affected.

I believe this can be caused by -poor pollination -inconsistent watering or (most likely IMO) -calcium deficiency.. I've never personally done it but I've heard to crush up Tums and work it into the soil around the base of your plant. When I first plant my tomatoes into the garden I toss an egg in the hole first, making sure it breaks, then plant. I was taught to do this but can't say what the rest of the egg is good for besides the calcium of the shell 🤣 I do save egg shells as soil amendments throughout the year as well.

Hope this helps at all ❤️

It’s blossom end rot. It’s typically caused by low calcium in the soil and possibly not enough airflow within the plant. It’s why a lot of gardeners might prune their tomatoes as they grow.
