My 4 week old has been put on neocate since Wednesday afternoon, he was on neutramigen before hand for suspected CMPA which didn’t seem to be making any difference to how unsettled he has been between feeds and naps. He has been really uncomfortable and constipated and passed fork pellet type of poop today which was tiny. Anyone else’s baby experienced this? Not to sure what to do as it’s going to be the weekend and I can’t get a drs appointment. Not sure if this is normal when transitioning 😔

Ring your doctors and see if they can get someone to ring you and give you a prescription of laxatives otherwise maybe ring 111 as they can see you instead in out of hours. If baby was older I would’ve suggested prune puree and orange juice but I’ve just realised your baby is only 4 weeks old x

Are you on the regular Neocate Infant or Neocate Syneo? I've found neocate syneo is way better on my baby's tummy since it has probiotics and prebiotics

My little boy was the same and it turned out it wasn’t the neocate at all, but that his muscles weren’t used to how to contract to poo due to how liquidy it was during his reactions etc from day 1. So he was on Movicol which is a softener, rather than a full on laxative. We did try lactulose prescribed but he reacted to that too 🙈 prune and pear purées are great for softening stools too x

We have been told by gp to give a tea spoon of Water( boiled and cooled) if gets constipated when my lo was 8 weeks old.

Thank you for the comments everyone. I took him to the drs this evening and they weren’t overly concerned as he’s still having wet nappies, feeding, no sickness or temperature. They’ve advised me too keep him on the formula as the constipation is most likely from the switch between the two formulas so suddenly but they have advised me to take him a&e if his symptoms worsen or if I’m not 100% happy with the fussiness and crying. Was hoping to get more answers as he just seems so unhappy but I sopose it’s hard cause he’s so young and it’s all trial and error 😓😔 xx

he’s on the regular neocate, I’ve been told to keep him on their for now as it’s only day 3 and the constipation is most likely the sudden switch from neutramigen to neocate 😔 x
