Hi ladies, I’m expecting my first baby in early December. I had a missed miscarriage last year and didn’t find out until the 12 week scan. Now at 18/19 weeks, everything has been positive so far but I can’t escape the negative thoughts that something is going to go wrong again. I had a private scan 2 weeks ago and felt better for a few days after that, but now I’m back to feeling worried and anxious. My 20 week scan is in 2 weeks, but it feels like an eternity away. I’m paranoid about everything…. Bending over, getting up and down, sneezing (no really 🙈). Has anyone had a similar experience or got any words of wisdom to pass on? Thank you x

I’m the exact same and I know I shouldn’t be negative but I really feel like it’s making me hold back enjoying my pregnancy. I’m even having dreams now which I find totally unsettling. I’m sorry you had to go through a missed miscarriage, no wonder you feel the way you do. Xx

Hi lovley, I am also expecting due December (baby number 2) I was exactly the same with my fist baby, shes now two! I was terrified to even be a go in the passenger seat of of my partners brother car incase he drove too fast or went on bumpy roads I thought it was going to harm my baby🤦🏻♀️ I then jumped up and down with excitement when I found out the gender and then cried for the rest of the day because I thought id harmed the baby🤣 Trust me this is completely normal with your 1st and they are resilient little things I will tell you that, they can withstand a lot more than you might think, they are well protected in lots of layers in your tummy. Try not to worry too much, now im having baby number 2 this poor baby🤣 I forget im pregnant half the time im so busy chasing my toddler! As for the worry that never really goes im sorry to say but at 20 weeks the likelihood of things going wrong is very small❤️ wishing you best of luck x

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way too but I know exactly what you mean! I really want to enjoy the journey but struggling to do so at the minute. I’m just overthinking whether I have a bump or just bloating, whether I can feel movement etc.
I keep telling myself I’ll feel calmer after a positive 20 week anomaly scan but who knows… X

I was the same! Pregnancy after loss is rough! I’d say we had probably about 10 private scans to ease my anxiety, and even still it didn’t help because 5 mins after I would be like… “well they saw the heartbeat at the scan but how do I know that it didn’t stop on my way out”. I hardly any pregnancy symptoms which also didn’t help, I was really welcoming any sickness to help reassure me but nothing! It stressed me out to the point I would cry and get worked up about it then I would cry more at the thought that I may have messed everything up because I just got stressed 🫣 Even when she was born and they handed her to me I simply couldn’t believe it. She’s 6 months now and I thank my lucky stars that she’s here safe & hitting all her milestones. It did take the joy from my pregnancy but it is all worth it for the end result. Everyone says you never stop worrying about them, my mum says the same about me and I am 33 so I suppose it’s just all part of the rollercoaster that is being a mum ✨

thanks so much for your message. It feels so good to chat with other women who have had similar experiences ❤️ congratulations on your little one and your second. Trying to stay calm & positive xx

thank you for commenting. I am completely the same as you were last night. My partner jokes that we’re having the most scanned baby in the world but that day of reassurance that it gives me is so worth it to have a break from the worry & overthinking. I don’t think I’ll be able to believe it, if, come December I’ve got my baby girl alive and well in my arms!! Xx

I feel like this! I've had a missed miscarriage previously too and with this pregnancy, I keep thinking about everything that could go wrong and then convincing myself that those things have happened. I'm 16 weeks and have only told about 5 people because I have been so worried something will go wrong. 🙈 I've had 6 scans plus heard the baby's heartbeat at my last midwife appointment, but the relief only lasts for a bit. And my next scan isn't before August! But I am hoping that once I have a bump and start feeling the baby move, it will get easier🤞🏻

completely get it. I’ve felt exactly the same… so nervous to even talk about it in case something goes wrong and everytime my friends and family who do know ask how im doing, I feel the need to say something like ‘but still a long way to go’ or ‘don’t get too excited yet’!! X

Im so sorry, this is hard. Its my third but for some reason this pregnancy is very different from my others and im second gyessing everything, even the things ive gone through and know are normal in pregnancy. Anxiety is a b****! I try to be aware of how im feeling and connect with the bump, look for some prenatal yoga/meditation videos on YT. Talk to your baby and try to stay positive so that the baby gets ALL the good vibes 🩷🩷

I’ve not experienced MC but I’ve had all the anxiety and depressions around the same thoughts In the end I had to go back into medication to help the physical anxiety symptoms stop if that helps you maybe look into it xx

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Have you mentioned it to your midwife? I would definitely do this, as they could referer you to the perinatal mental health team and help x

I’m exactly the same. I had a late miscarriage in January and although this pregnancy has been going well I’m constantly anxious and worried.
I’ve been referred to the perinatal mental health at the hospital so hoping they’ll be able to give me some reassurance x

I know it’s hard to do this but may be try trusting your own body that it is doing its job growing the baby well. Soon you’ll feel kicks too so that’ll be another way to reassure yourself.
A healthy pregnancy means a low stress momma. Do some low impact workout like swimming or yoga to relax ❤️

Thank you ❤️ sending you the best vibes too

thank you - I’ve mentioned it a little bit but definitely down played it. I will definitely consider this as a helpful resource x

im sorry to hear that Carla - it’s so tough. I think I need to do this too. Thanks for sharing that and sending all of the positive vibes x

@Hannah my friend did it and they also checked up on her loads after birth x

Hi I’m due my first baby in December 2025 and I’m constantly worried. I would pay for a scan every week if you could! I’m 16 weeks and I keep thinking how do I know if everything is still ok. So please don’t think it is just you! Xx

Thanks for your message - I’m feeling everything you’re feeling too. Let’s try and stay positive and calm 💆🏻♀️

Just commenting to say I feel the same as you all too, a constant underlying state of worry. It seems it’s normal ❤️ it’s an unexpected part of pregnancy for sure! Hopefully we can feel them moving soon and that will reassure us somewhat

Two missed miscarriages last year. When I have scans this pregnancy the relief hearing everything is ok is like a massive weight lifted but it's so brief I go back to thinking what if, I don't think it will ease until they arrive safe & healthy.
This is my fourth pregnancy & although my first child is so full of life from the moment he wakes it was a long painful journey to get pregnant & I was too scared to fully enjoy the experience.
I try to take a picture of my belly to see the changes each week & forgive myself for any negative worrying because of the past.
I bought something small for the baby & count the weeks as closer to them being born.

so sorry to hear you’ve been through all of that. The trauma has been bad enough with one missed miscarriage for me… I think it’s so important to continue being kind and forgiving to yourself. The more I speak to people, the more I realise it isn’t the fairytale pregnancy we think it should be in reality. Best of luck for the rest of the pregnancy ❤️
