LO turned 6 months yesterday and we started weaning today. We began with broccoli and offered water but he refused completely and spat all of it back out- is this normal?

Yep! My oldest boy did exactly the same and im assuming my 6 month old will too! It’s a completely new taste and texture- they get used to it

He might not be able to swallow it yet - could also be why. My LO is 6m now but can’t sit up independently so we haven’t started weening

Yes it’s normal to refuse . The idea is to slowly introduce different veg and repeat once you get through all. It takes time for them to accept it . You will notice your LO may prefer one veg over the other . Good luck

you don’t need to sit unsupported to be able to wean. As long as they have good head neck control and can manage on the high chair should be fine. My LO can’t sit unsupported , has very good head neck control and has started weaning.

Yes, I know some mums choose not to wait as their babies are ready a bit earlier on, but I’m personally a bit uncomfortable with it and she’s not far off from sitting independently! This is also under the advice of our HV too 🩷
