How often do your in laws see your little ones?

My fiancés parents have only seen our little one twice since she’s been born and she will be 9 weeks tomorrow. My mum has been round a couple of times a week to help & my dad often visits or asks us over for dinner too.

They live several states away so Once a year.

Maybe 2 times a year. They moved to Florida so they live 16 hours away. It’s amazing.

My parents live in a different country and my inlaws about 10hrs away. So not that often😅

My mum has my daughter while I work 1 or 2 days per week. My dad and step mum see her every 2-3 weeks ish. My MIL most weekends. My FIL has met her once and she’s now 2. My husband has finally realised that it’s not right!
All live within 30 minutes of us

They watch her when I have dr appointments. So in the last 5mths they have watched her 7x, for an hour or 2. Then before feb... they hadn't watched her since early nov.

I have let them know that whenever they are available and would like to spend a few hours with her to let me know the day before and I'll have her stuff ready. They just have not asked for her. We do have weekly dinners some months we might skip a few weeks. They live a 5minute walk away.

My in laws have seen my 2 3/4 month old son three times haven’t seen them in two week 😁

In the first 2-3 months only maybe once every 1-2 weeks, but the older she got and the more I wanted visitors and to venture out the more they seen her.

Im personally not a fan of constantly having visitors or seeing people on the daily, im too busy for that

We live 2.5 hrs from my MIL and 4hrs from my dad (only parents still alive).
My lg is 9 months old and my dad has met 5 times (2 of which were 2 days staying at ours) as he has 2 large dogs he can't bring to ours or leave alone so can only come when my sister is home to watch them. We do videocall at least 3 times a week so he can see her.

My mil has met our lg 3 times as she won't drive to ours (refuses to drive motorways) so we either have to drive to hers (we've done once) or my husband has to go and get her which adds up to a lot of driving around his work hours.
We're moving in with mil temporarily so we can be closer to family and I'll be able to take lg to see my family for day trips on the train as i don't drive currently

My son is two and my father in law has seen him at most 10 times, he doesn't make an effort at all, most of those were in passing because he works with my husband. He has been to our house 3 times and always leaves within an hour, we don't go to his house because his wife is NUTS. He came to his first birthday but he was late and left early, my husband didn't even bother inviting him this year. He has met our one month old twins once, didn't make an effort to come to the hospital to meet any of our kids, we had to take our first to his house to meet him and my husband had to go pick him up to meet the twins. My mother in law lives out of state, she used to live with us but honestly didn't put a ton of effort in even then. My dad has actually seen him the least though, he hasn't met the twins at all. My mom and her husband are the only ones that actually put in an effort to actually have a relationship with my kids.

My partner's mum, barely ever, she doesn't make the time or effort, his father? Every Sunday

The way it goes. You'll always notice 1 grandparent is more involved than the other. I'm very lucky for my inlaws. I love them to no end. We see my MIL every week if not more. My mom? F that human 🤣👌😮 shh I didn't say that.. well, I did lol. I keep my mom at arms length. She can't handle my child but just like she treated me she has noooo issue with my brothers toddler. Literally has him 2x weekly & it's pathetic, she's a pathetic excuse of a grandmother. But that's fine. Our daughter will unfortunately know that on her own once she's older. She will know the ones who spent time, who came over, who invited us. VS- the absent 1-2x annual family members who I personally- I can't do fake or surface level. Nope. Not for me.

In laws live 5min away.
Baby is their first grandchild. My MIL has seen her 4 times in 6 months, FIL one time. It's disappointing but 100% their choice.
I wish my mum was closer but she lives in a different country and she came twice to see her + we're going there soon.

Around once a month my father in law has seen our boy and he loves 2 minutes away, BUT, he isn't in the best of health. Its difficult for him to get out and hes constantly in a lot of pain so spends most of his time in bed, so spontaneous popping around his house doesnt particularly work.
My mum however, she lives 45minutes away and she sees our son around 5 times a week 😅
Its all circumstantial i guess x

Granted I’m much closer to my boyfriend’s mom and we have the best relationship way better than I do with my own mom! I try to have them watch her for an overnight or for a couple of hours so my boyfriend and I to have a date night or we try to host a Sunday lunch twice a month sometimes three times a month so they can spend time with their granddaughter and they LOVE IT! My mom watches our daughter 2x a week when I have work.

Avatar

lol like once in a blue moon 🤷🏼‍♀️ they live 2 hours away and don’t make any effort to come see us but will see her other grandchild bc “he lives closer” but then complains that my child cries any time she sees her.

In person never but it’s not their fault. They r from India and its hard to get a visa to visit
