Everything will be okay! The general advice is no alcohol but when I was pregnant I was low on iron so my midwife said it’s okay to have a Guinness to get more iron in me! I think really they say no alcohol so that people don’t go getting totally drunk when they’re pregnant as that would put baby at risk, but you’ll be fine with a low alcohol beer 😊

All non alcoholic beer will have a tiny bit of alcohol. It will not affect baby unless you are getting blitzed daily. You'll be just fine!

They say no alcohol because it’s not been tested on pregnant women for the side effects as it’s unethical. Your midwife telling you to have alcohol is bonkers

my midwife told me the same, I was also told to have a glass of red wine if I wanted to.

You do you but that’s so crazy to me omg 😂

It’s because of a disability due to alcohol effecting baby growing and brain development.. it’s called FASD.
I heard a glass of wine here and there during pregnancy doesn’t do anything. But all alcohol beverages say not to consume when pregnant. And it’s advised against it.. due to baby development and the possibility of life long damage to baby’s brain.
Beer for Iron is crazy.. lol. Straight to the blood stream I guess? 🤣 But I would highly recommend certain foods high in Iron not beer, that’s wild. (during pregnancy and even not pregnant my go to is beef)
Op, I think baby will be fine! You didn’t do anything wrong, it was fine print. Maybe they do that so people don’t freak. Even above, unless your getting drunk/your an alcoholic, having a higher percentage drink frequently, ect.
Kombucha and fruit juice also contain that much alcohol too, due to fermentation. It’s basically non alcoholic.
But you can double check with a professional if you want full reassurance

I didn’t say I did it, I said that’s what my midwife told me

Very unlikely that it will have made a difference to baby at all, even a ripe banana has 0.2-0.4% in alcohol percentage as it hides in a lot of fruits and breads etc which are all fine and encouraged as part of a healthy diet 🙂

That's less than the alcohol content of orange juice 👍🏻 you'll be fine

Yeah I understand was FASD is, I’m just saying, there’s no known amount of alcohol that’ll affect a developing baby. As in, one drink dependent on its ABV could have an effect, or it could be 5 or 10 drinks, so on, and there’s literally no way of knowing how much alcohol it takes because testing it would be unethical, so midwives suggesting alcohol for low iron is bonkers🩷

Orange juice is also up to 0.5%. My understanding is that the difference between low and 0% alcohol drinks is the process - 0% beer never had any alcohol in it to begin with, and low non-alcoholic (up to 0.5%) has had the alcohol taken out so it can't be guaranteed to being completely alcohol free. Hope this context helps ease your worries!

You'll be absolutely fine 🥰 With my last pregnancy I was pregnant over Christmas and my midwife said I could enjoy a glass of champagne or a boozy pudding and it wouldn't do any harm 😃 so a low alcohol/alcohol free drink will do no harm either 🥰 x

It’s ok. Lots of things have negligible amounts of alcohol due to natural fermentation. Orange juice can have 0.5% too
