I don’t have bad gut bacteria because I want to eat some dang berries ffs. -> my husband keeps saying this. It’s driving me mad.
He thinks carnivore is gonna fix his reflux issues and I wanted to support him but I felt like crap. Well I had some berries last night and I felt so much better immediately. But it was bad bacteria and parasites what made me crave “sugar”. I’m over it. Not to mention I didn’t poop full for two days and it stank like death.

I don’t think social media demonizes a balanced diet. I think your husband is down a diet rabbit hole and his algorithm is showing him crap.
You need to remind him that literally ANYONE can make a video, it doesn’t mean they have any actual nutritional or scientific knowledge.
Go see an actual nutritionist together and see what they say. I would let the nutritionist know what your husband has been watching and ask them for some advice. Tell him to just go in with an open mind and that you don’t have to follow what the person said. Find some videos that explain men and women often need a different diet too, he shouldn’t be forcing you to eat a certain way, that’s actually pretty abusive. I’m sorry you’re going through this.
maybe something is wrong with my algorithm because I have to actively block creators that do this every time I open the app. And my husband met someone that lost 40lbs and was convinced to do it. He doesn’t need to lose any weight he’s 5’4 and 155. He was 165 when he was working out but he stoped going to he lost that weight.
also he doesn’t have SM only YouTube and all he watches are videos on how to fix things. He’s a mechanic.

He searched it up and his and your technology hears him talking about it. There was just a massive lawsuit about all of our technology actively listening to our conversations and then pushing us ads for what we discussed.
My algorithm shows me women making dairy free and vegan dinners and healthy salads because that’s what I talk about and search. I’ve seen a few of those videos you’re talking about but I haven’t seen one in quite awhile, never had to block any creators. YouTube has reels and algorithm the same as any other social media.

Fruit and vegetables are great for your body, so enjoy them. A balanced diet is important. I don’t think the carnivore diet is going to fix his reflux issues, just because an influencer made a video, and or post saying so. If he chooses to eat this way, that’s his decision, and you shouldn’t feel forced to follow his eating plan. Enjoy your berries Incognito : )

Women and men have different needs. My dad feels great in carnivore but I could never. Carnivore doesn’t work for most women. Even most “radical health” pro meat influencers encourage some fruits/veggies. Set boundaries with your husband, he doesn’t get to force this restriction on you

The source of info is the key here. From a degree-holding, continually educated, multi-certified nutritionist and personal trainer with nearly two decades of experience, I can tell you plainly: the carnivore diet is an extremist approach that lacks long-term sustainability and compromises key bodily functions.
Here’s the thing—your body is a biochemical machine, and every system (digestion, metabolism, immune function, hormone regulation, etc.) depends on a precise interplay of macronutrients (carbs, fats, proteins) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients).
Carbohydrates—especially from fruits and vegetables like berries—are your body’s primary source of fuel. Your brain alone uses ~120g of glucose per day to function. When you remove carbs, your body has to convert fat into ketones, which can be a survival mechanism but is not ideal long-term. This is why you felt immediate relief after eating berries—your body finally got quick-access fuel it was deprived of.

Fiber (which comes exclusively from plant foods) is essential for:
Feeding the good gut bacteria (your microbiome)
Regulating bowel movements
Supporting detox pathways
Preventing colon inflammation and disease
When you remove fiber, gut motility suffers. Hence the “didn’t poop for two days and it stank like death.” That’s your gut microbiome crying out, not “parasites.”
Antioxidants & phytonutrients from berries, leafy greens, and whole plant foods: These neutralize free radicals, reduce inflammation, and support immune function. No steak can give you that.
Balanced hormones and metabolism require all three macronutrients:
Fats for hormone production
Proteins for repair and regeneration
Carbs for metabolic regulation and thyroid support
Removing carbs for too long can spike cortisol, tank your thyroid, and wreck energy levels—especially in women.

Lastly, Physical training and movement trigger muscle repair, circulation, lymphatic drainage, and insulin sensitivity—but all of that only works efficiently if your body has the right fuel. Trying to train or heal without carbs is like trying to rev an engine without oil or gas.
Your body isn’t misfiring because of some evil parasite whispering ‘eat a raspberry.’ It’s misfiring because it’s being denied the full range of nutrients it was designed to operate with.
The goal isn’t to demonize one food group—it’s to achieve metabolic flexibility and resilience. That comes from nutrient diversity, not restriction. Supporting your partner is noble—but if a diet makes you feel worse, it’s a red flag, not a detox sign. You’re allowed to listen to your body.
I am SO sorry that was so long🥴 but the details are absolutely vital to understand for this topic of conversation. Our body is a machine and there’s a way it operates that just can’t be ignored.

Also with him being a mechanic maybe he just needs a little more insight on the machine that is his body! He seems like he’s on a great learning journey, just got stuck on the extreme quick fix temporary solution which we often see are also options with our cars 😂💕

I’m so over all these wack a doodle nutrition influencers. I love the guy Liam who just lambastes them all 😂😂😂
