8 year old daughter
I just got married to my husband and have a 6 week old. He has an 8 year old daughter who’s been living with her paternal grandparents since she was one year old. She’s going to start living with us and I’m super nervous. She has many behavioral issues but her mom is not involved at all. Any advice?

Why was she living with your husband parents and not your husband?
At the time he was living with them and in school and when he got placed for a job out of town she stayed with them
Are you living close to the grand parents or she having to move far from them? How much time have you spent with her? You might want to look into family counseling and maybe individual counseling for her.
I would take a backseat to discipline and let her father handle that but back him up. Treat her like you would want someone to treat your own child and have patience.
Yes it’s about 40 min away… I’ve spent about every weekend with her for a year now. She’s pretty undisciplined …. Would you still recommend a backseat?
