Hi! My 12 month old has severe nappy rash that’s turned to a chafe sort of texture, does anyone have any remedies to help? My poor boy is in so much pain and every nappy change seems like absolute torture 😭 we have been lathering nappy cream and using baths/water to help clean so we aren’t wiping too much but I feel like I’m now at a loss, please help x

Have you tried pampers nappies or pull ups for flare ups (I know they are very expensive, I use them only in emergencies for severe nappy rash) or liquid talc (you can get little angels one from asda) also try sizing up on the nappy/pull up to let his skin air out a little if you can without causing leakages! Otherwise I would suggest the yellow Metanium (which you can only purchase on eBay for a ridiculous price since they stopped manufacturing it) it was the best cream for my lg or if you breastfeed or have some in the freezer try a breastmilk bath! Or put it directly on the skin using cotton pads xx

If it’s just nappy rash then I second metanium… why on earth did they discontinue it! It’s like magic. My LG recently had bad nappy rash that wasn’t improving and it turned out to be a fungal infection. She had an anti fungal +steroid cream for a week and it totally cleared up. So worth checking if it’s not like his usually nappy rash.

I couldn’t tell you why they discontinued it!! Was like bloody gold!! Such a shame, haven’t found a nappy cream that works so well & so fast since! Xx

Thank you all! Will definitely get it looked at as it is definitely worse than what he would normally have! Will also try the breastmilk bath/frozen milk on cotton pads 🩵🩵

I hope he gets better soon!! Xx

Only thing that helped us was aloe Vera gel in couple of days! And loads of nappy free time on puppy pads all over the carpet x

The only thing I've found that works is sudocrem then free bum time where possible!

When I worked on the children’s ward we used to use ‘Medihoney’ cream and everyone loved it, it contains Manuka honey and works as a barrier cream… Maybe worth a try if other creams aren’t working for you!

Continuous nappy off time. Just have towels down and spares at the ready

Works amazingly

I would also suggest if you can (not sure of baby age) let them air it out as much as possible. Leave nothing on the bottom if you're just chilling at home. My little one had a poo in the night a while back and I felt awful because I didn't realise and woke up and she had a pretty awful rash. We creamed it and let her go naked from the waist down all day, it went away in about 2 days x

hiya that isn’t the original one!! I’m not sure if this one is good but you can give it a try. The original one is in yellow and purple packaging but they discontinued it and I have looked on eBay and they sell it but it’s usually around £30 for ONE TUBE 🤯🤯🤯 xx

We just went through the same thing! It was so raw and red. We changed her diaper as soon as it was soiled/wet, used cotton cloths dipped in water to wipe, used a little fan to dry her bottom, then diaper cream. We tried a couple but the one that worked in the end was Boudreaux's Butt Paste maximum strength. Took about two weeks but it finally cleared.

Super random but if you rule out fungal/bacterial skin things try milk of magnesia! Worked like a charm for my nanny kid with super sensitive skin when he had a horribly stubborn rash!
