Anyone else’s in-laws make up a nickname for your baby and it makes you completely fill with rage?
My in-laws aren’t originally from the UK and there it’s common for people to go by nicknames for standard names, but our baby’s name doesn’t translate so doesn’t have a standard nickname in their native language so MIL has made one up. It’s not even a name or word just part of his name with another sound at the end. She pretty much only calls him the nickname now even though she doesn’t do this for my husband or her other son. It’s driving me insane.
Any tips on killing nicknames?

I think just ignore it and hope she stops doing it in time. We purposely tried to choose names for our children that couldn’t be shortened (Monty and Coco) yet people still try 😂 it’s annoying isn’t it!
Our littlest gets called Coco Pops which I think is pretty cute whilst she’s little

My little boy is called Flynn and my daughter was only 15 months when he arrived and was an incredible talker, turned out the one sound she struggled with was F so he became Bin or Binnie. To start with I really tried to deter her but he actually became Bin to everyone haha. My newest daughter is Maeve and we were calling her Maevey Moo and my little boy couldn’t do the M sound so she’s gradually become Noo Noo to everyone. It annoys me when people I don’t really like use their nicknames because I feel like that’s our special names for them even if it happens to be Bin haha. Is your MIL very involved? If it’s something that your around everyday then definitely say something but if you can ignore it then I’d try to do that and just keep using baby’s real name. I’m very argument avoidant though! X
