Hi mamas š„° Iām hoping to get some advice and hear your experiences. My little guy is 9 months old and not circumcised. Iāve gotten different advice from doctors⦠some say to gently pull the foreskin back, others say not to touch it at all and just let it be until it naturally retracts. Itās so confusing, and I just want to make sure Iām doing whatās best for him.
If your son isnāt circumcised, what did you do around this age? Did you leave it alone, or were you told to start retracting a little? How has it gone for you over time ā any tips or things you wish you knew earlier?
Iād love to hear real experiences from other moms, because sometimes hearing from people whoāve actually been through it is more helpful than the mixed messages from doctors. Thanks so much in advance š

Wipe it like a finger, itās fused and youāll cause damage if you pull it back

My sons father is uncircumcised so heās known how to care for such a thing his entire life lol.
So the thing is that everybodyās foreskin retracts at a different time, like my sons started to retract slightly at a year old, but for some kids it doesnāt happen til their closer to five.
Before the age of 1, youāre only focused on cleaning the outside thatās visible with no manipulation.
This article breaks it down really well & has the same info my sonās father lived his life using. https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/infant-and-toddler-health/expert-answers/uncircumcised-penis/faq-20058327

Pull back as much as it easily goes(no force-so it really might not move a lot) to clean during bath time or during a messy diaper change. My pediatrician said it wonāt fully go back until around 4 years old. We want to pull back as much as it naturally goes back but nothing that would stretch

The skin is actually attached to the head of the penis at this age. I took my baby to 3 doctors at a few months old because I couldnāt retract his foreskin and thought I should be able to to clean it. Finally discovered the skin is attached and itās normal to not be able to retract it for the first 5 years of life but often can be up to 10 years old before it retracts x

Just clean it like a finger, no need to pull it back. I found out that my grandmother pulled my uncles back as a baby and he had to be circumcised as a result.

I gently pull back just a tiny bit, when I wasn't so much *cheese* was built up and the smell was atrocious. Not like im unhooding him just slightly. Thats what works for me may not work for you and thats okay
