As a Christian, I'm a firm believer in Christ, though I'm far from perfect. I'm fortunate to have a close group of friends. Two of these friendships have lasted over a decade—one with a Westernized Muslim and another with a friend who's been exploring spirituality, particularly with practices like Reiki. I respect their beliefs, just as they respect mine. I've always focused on the kindness in their hearts, and they are truly first-class people.
My third friendship is more recent. We met through our kids at a baby group and reconnected during COVID-19. She's always been open about her spiritual beliefs and practices, including numerology, which has never been an issue for me.
Recently, she mentioned she'd started going back to church. When I asked about the denomination, she said it was "Spiritual." I was taken aback, as I'd never heard of this. As she explained it, it involved communing with spirits, which goes against everything I believe. My faith teaches me that interaction with spirits is demonic, and I feel immense conflict because I'm so worried for her. I believe this practice could invite spirits of all kinds to be around her, and it makes me feel scared and wary in her presence. I feel terrible for having these feelings, as she's a lovely person, but I can't shake the concern.

You shouldn't be scared if you're reading the Word and praying and fasting regularly, but it's ok to distance yourself.

I know that’s what your faith teaches you but that doesn’t mean she is communicating with demonic beings. You have nothing to be scared of. I’m not a Christian, I’m spiritual myself, but I would say if you believe in your God then wouldn’t it also be to trust that he will protect you. It’s not like you are practicing witchcraft yourself. You are just having friends who walk a different path. I don’t think Jesus would have a problem with that.

I mean I don’t see anything wrong with asking questions to get to know your friend better. Again it’s about getting to know your friend’s heart. Rather than being quick to judge because you don’t understand. We all have different lives and perspectives… I think it’s better to learn from one another rather than to shut doors on people just for not understanding their views. God would appreciate your kind heart over a fearful judgement. Plus it’s God’a job to pass judgment and no one else. 🫶🏻

I think our main assignment is to love people just as Christ loves us. People have different understandings of what love is but personally I think love is more than just a feeling, its an action. Jesus spent time with people who were deemed as outcasts at the time, He is the embodiment of love, He is love because He is God in flesh. And look what happened, they turned away from their sins and followed Him. But with loving someone also comes helping them through their struggles, being there for them, correcting them with love when they are going in a dangerous direction.
I dont think theres anything wrong with having friends of different faiths, just keep expressing the unconditional love of Jesus to them, share and sow the seeds of the Gospel and its God that brings the increase. Pray for them and God is the one that changes the hearts of men. God loves all and doesnt want anyone to perish, which is why He came down to earth and took everyones sin upon Himself and died in our place❤️

I get it! My sister in law is witchy like that. I have no problem with her but I don’t ever see her. Trust the holy spit who lives with in you sister! He will help you with spiritual discernment .
John 14: “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

I’m not religious but so long as no one tried to push their beliefs on me then we r just fine .

As someone who’s not religious, but from a very religious family, if you’re gonna have friends outside of your religion, then you need to be able to separate them and keep your religious beliefs to yourself unless you’re asked about them.
Do not go ‘spreading the gospel’. You will become the weird/crazy friend who eventually no one wants to talk to because it might end up feeling like you’re always trying to convert them. Religion is personal and it’s all about YOUR beliefs. do not go telling your friend how her religion affects YOU because it shouldn’t. Your God should be looking out for you. You don’t have the right to tell somebody that your God and your belief should be put above their own. ultimately when you’re spreading the gospel and no one asked, that’s what you’re doing.
She’s sharing things that interest her, with you because she sees you as a friend but if you’re not comfortable listening to those details of her religion, just tell her.

(This post would’ve been better in a Christian group.)
If you are Christian and believe that the Bible is 100% then yes those things ARE demonic from a biblical standpoint. Of course those who are in it don’t see it (yet) bc they haven’t come to the truth. You mentioned you have friend who are into reiki, that’s also “spiritual” & you’ve been interacting with that already so I’m surprised you were taken aback by the 3rd friend.
That said, I think it’s important that you study friendship in the Bible.
It’s also important to study spiritual warfare. As long as you don’t have any open doors in your life, you ARE covered by God. But if you move in disobedience, have an open door in your life, it’s not that God takes His protection away but it’s you stepping OUTSIDE of His covering. So the idea that you’re protected no matter what isn’t true. Spiritual attacks are real. What makes the difference is your standing with God. I’d love to tell you more about that if you want you can DM me

it shouldn’t matter as long as you’re not trying to convert them. if they have already stated their beliefs and they’re not asking you about yours, they don’t need you trying to change them. they don’t need to hear about how jesus died for their sins and how much better off they’ll be if they just accept christ as their lord and savior. religion is so widespread there isn’t anybody out there who hasn’t heard of it. if they’re interested they’ll come to it on their own. and if you can’t keep yourself from pushing your religion onto people who don’t agree then you shouldn’t be friends with them.
of course if they ask you about yours absolutely tell them all about what you believe, and if you think that hearing them talk about spirits will make you go against god then ask them not to tell you about those things and hopefully they’ll respect that.
btw im not accusing you of pushing your beliefs onto your friends, but the other comments saying that you should concerned me. good luck ☺️
