Help! I am trying to get my 2 week old feeding/napping every 3 hours. We were doing every 2 hours but now since he’s eating more we wanted to do every 3. He grunts a lot and moans wanting to get up after just even an hour 1/2 napping or sleeping. We put the paci and even check the diaper and he’s fine. I’m trying to not cave and feed every hour 1.5 so he isn’t stuck on this schedule. Any help or recommendations?

I agree, you’re really best following their lead at this stage and focusing on differentiating day and night as priority. We’re at 8 months and only just stretching wake windows to 3 hours and bottles to every 3.5(ish).

What do you recommend to help him differentiate night/day? I have him in his bassinet in our room even during the day. Should I let him sleep in his crib during naps during the day? He sleeps in his bassinet next to me at night. During his naps should the room be completely dark?

Cluster feeding within the first two weeks is completely normal. (If breastfeeding) The first 14 days of your milk supply is 90% fat and 10% nutrient, after day 15 it’s flipped. This is to help baby pack on weight. (If formula feeding) because it’s mixed with water it is thinner and takes more /frequent feedings to fill up baby. As long as baby has 8-10 dirty diapers per day, you should be ok. If you’re still concerned, I would recommend talking to your pediatrician but from your explanation it sounds normal. 🤍

Agree with all of the above! This will naturally mean feeding and sleep is a bit all over the place for a little while but honestly it just will be - my advice would be to embrace it because the more you try and stick to a strict schedule the more stressed you (and baby) are likely to be when things don’t go 100% to plan x

Don’t do a schedule on a newborn pls. They cluster feed sometimes because they need it for growth spurt ! Listen to your baby cues. Feed them when they are hungry!

Yes I go off of when I begin the feeding. I have trouble trying to get him to fall asleep after feedings and he just wants to stay awake. He did this last night and never slept! He isn’t fussy he just keeps his eyes open and doesn’t fall back asleep. Instagram is confusing me with these moms posting about a sleep schedule and how it’s necessary to begin a schedule on a newborn.

I also am doing formula with Büb’s, I wasn’t able to breast feed

I read that until several weeks (8ish) or at least 10 pounds they need to let you know when they're hungry. Not sure if that makes you feel any better lol
At night I get one longer stretch (4-4.5 hours) but otherwise she eats every 2 hours. She's starting to cluster feed at night before the long stretch too🙃

2 weeks old is too early for a schedule it’s best to follow their lead right now. My little guy was born 8/8 so 2 weeks and a few days now and I just go with what he wants. For naps and stuff during the day I have all the windows open and lights on. Then for bed we keep it kinda dark with only a small night light so I can still see what I’m doing that way he doesn’t get his days and nights mixed up. I do recommend feeding him when he’s hungry because he’s still so little. My son eats every 30 minutes to a hour and a half during the day and we actually sleep 5 straight hours at night now. He is currently eating about 20-23ozs a day ( breastfeed, pump & bottle feed and at night formula feed is what we are doing)
But for sure don’t limit baby on eating because the first few weeks (7-8ish) they are still so tiny and their stomach is growing but still small so they get hungry a lot.

if you feel overwhelmed with online advice or opinions. Ask your pediatrician. All the best! You got this !!!
