Has anyone ever LOVED a name so much but your parter or husband said no way and it kinda crushes u a little. If we were to have another girl my heart was set on Viola Capri. I am obsessed with the name viola but he’s Cuban and says it means something else in Spanish and refuses and I’m sooooo bummed.

My partner vetoed loads of baby names I loved, we have completely different styles when it comes to baby names! 😭

I find the name beautiful! But as soon as you mentioned Spanish, I knew he meant it sounds like what the word for “gRAPE” would be in Spanish
My partner is German and I h ad so many names that i absolutely loved that we couldn’t use because of their meaning in German and I was so upset too at having to give them up 🥲

I loved Toby but my boyfriend wouldn't have it because of 'The Office'...

Yeah this is pretty common in dual language couples..I can't remember what the name I loved was now but in my husbands language it was a kitchen utensil 🤣

Im kind of glad we had a boy as we had the name picked straight away, girls we could not agree at all

My husband and i speak 3 languages each. Let me tell you it was so hard to pick a name that worked in all languages. We liked Anaya but it means sewer in my dialect 😩 we liked Ariana but it means naked in my dialect. He vetoed Ayla and its one of my favorite names. I was crushed.

Well, it is sad and I get things translate in other languages or origins, BUT I loved a name for my daughter and her dad vetoed, but let’s just say, wrong or not, I vetoed his veto and stick with the name. She is Adrianne Serenity. There was some sentiment behind it, so I ended up having to put my foot down. And I’m glad I did because he’s no longer around and my girl carries a family name. She’s only 4 though, so she just doesn’t know it yet. Lol

ugh I feel that everything I suggest he’s like ew no

😩 yesss that’s what he told me and I was like but Italian it means violet or purple or the instrument. I was so bummed but we live in an area that there’s a lot of Spanish so I don’t want that meaning to be connected

ugh the name Toby is so cute but he is the most hated character in the office 😅

yesss for some reason girl names are harder

wow 3 languages!!! That’s amazing tho

Yep! My maiden name is Collins and it has become a somewhat popular first name for girls recently and I really wanted our daughter to have that name and he said absolutely not:/

I think the worst thing about naming a baby was having to compromise with my partner. I wanted Elliott for a girl and he vetoed it completely

Our son was nameless for the first 3 days bc we couldn’t decide on anything. We have complete opposite taste in names. We ended up settling on a name neither of us loved but both were okay with.

I loved Toby but my husband said Toby carvery 🙃
