Hi, I have taken my 12 week old to the doctor yesterday for suspected cmpa (symptoms are runny nose/ congested, occasionally wheezing, frequent sneezing, flaky skin near eyebrows, baby acne like rash on cheeks, mucus and sometime bloody poos and lots of wind). I have bought some SMA Althera and have started it today, as per the doctors instructions (whilst she discusses with the dietician team and pharmacy on how to help).
However, since being on the Althera (4 bottles worth so far) she has been non stop crying with sore tummy. She refuses the feed until she is very tried and then has a dream feed which is less than usual so I know she is hungry too.
I was wondering if anyone has any similar experiences and can offer any advice? She seems so much more unhappy on this milk than she ever did with the cow and gate formula. Despite having the mucus poos etc, she would never really cry because of tummy pain and enjoyed the milk.

This is a common thing with CMPA
Formulas, they taste awful, my doctor recommended putting a few drops of vanilla in at the start to help them adjust to the taste of it,
If she’s refusing feeds that’s probably what’s causing the sore tummy but also any change in formula can cause upset tummy until they are use to it, my daughter took about a week until she got use to taking it and would stop fighting to not drink it xx
