Do you watch horror movies while pregnant?

The new conjuring movie is coming out and I realllyyy want to watch it 😩. But we have this superstition that it’s bad for the baby 🥲.

Well in my culture they say not to scare a pregnant woman as it causes stress on the baby… but that’s just superstition 😂 I do still avoid them though

I’m not watching it pregnant or inside my home. We are very “weird” about horror movies especially ones based on true events 🙅🏽‍♀️

I tried to watch them pregnant last year and I couldn’t I oddly found them too scary and my dreams were much more horrid and vivid. But it is different for everyone else! A mom in my mommy and me group said she could watch them pregant and her baby is a-okay!

I wish I was a horror person so bad every time I see a preview I’m like I’m gonna watch that but my anxiety won’t let me I scream bloody murder anytime someone walks quietly behind me lol

I saw the Pet Sematary remake and Midsommar while pregnant with my first. They were some of the last movies I saw in theaters and we had a great time. I'm of the belief that superstition should be fun, not limiting. Like I don't sweep or do laundry on the new year because superstition says you'll "sweep" a loved one out of your life or wash away luck, but if it happens, I don't stress about it.

Omg I was trying to be brave and watched the start of the Terrifier when I was pregnant (hubby thought let’s watch it 🤦🏻‍♀️) and I had nightmares for a good while. I’ve always been good with horror movies, but I was a wuss being pregnant. Also in horror movies they specifically use music with low frequency to specifically evoke unease and anxiety in listeners even when they aren't consciously aware of the sound. Positive energy with comedy movies was my go to.

No but I was more I went off them

Not horror but seriously rapey, I watched the whole of The Handmaids Tale when pregnant with my first (minus the new season) and that is traumatising to watch pregnant 🥲

I watched sinners while pregnant in the theater. Only thing I was overthinking about was the loud noise since the theater is loud but watching a scary movie at home seems ok

I don’t like horror movies but a few years ago my husband and I watched the movie Fatherhood when it was brand new and I was very pregnant with our first child I think around 7-8 months along and it unlocked new fears in me

I don't like horror movies, so I didn't, but if I liked them I still would have watched them

I love horror movies so much but I haven’t been watching them very much while pregnant. It’s just too intense, but I miss them 🫠

I was never into horror movies then during my first pregnancy I wanted to watch them. Then after pregnancy no interest anymore.
Then during second pregnancy I got into true crime podcasts and again, after pregnancy lost interest. Weird how that happens?!

Avatar

don’t you have to get blessed and given holy water before watching it at the theater ?

Avatar

I was actually watching a quiet place when my water broke. Lol.

Oh ya I loveee horror movies, spooky season is literally my favorite. When I was pregnant I was pregnant durning the spooky season and we watched all the horror films. The conjuring series are my favorite. It doesn’t scare me

Avatar

No haha I’ll have extra vivid nightmares lol. I was watching vampire diaries & I started being scared to go to the bathroom at night because I was having crazy vivid dreams of vampires eating me lmao 🤣🤣🤣

Avatar

I'm too sensitive for the genre as I've gotten older. It's a little too real. Even some thrillers don't pass the test. Couldn't pay me to watch Sinners

Young mum

Hi guys,

I’m just wondering if there’s any other young parents that are getting further into their pregnancy and like, genuinely just clocking that I’m gonna be responsible for a baby and I don’t know everything their is to know about baby’s I feel like I’m gonna be so useless and accidently be the worst mum in the world 🫣

Does anyone else feel like this? Or felt like this? I’m 19 and genuinely have so much anxiety about this now I’m 20 weeks lol

So annoyed, dog jumped on me :( now I’m anxious

I have a big dog and she NEVER jumps.. today I came home and my mum was with me visiting and my dog must have just got over whelmed and she jumped and ended up scratching my lower back,

with that I’ve bent backwards almost and stretched my lower belly and it didn’t hurt as such just felt like tha shock ligament pain but ofc I haven’t actually bent that far since being pregnant and now I just feel anxious really and just need some reassurance. It only happened about 15 mins ago and I have felt baby a little since

But why is there always something to worry about!😭
